I am not scared, nor trying to make anyone scared. I wanted to hear your opinion, because you are the one that talked to the authorities about this party, not me.
I will surely come because i just LOVE beach festivals. There is noting better than combination of pure trance, sun and sea.
My post was WARNING to all those friendly trance people out there (somewere), because I belive they should know what is happening in Montenegro and I want to send a message:
prepare to be detaily examined (probably with dogs), you are not kids, you should know to pack.
see you all at the festival! |

Why so much negativity and paranoia? And most of it coming from our neighbours, our 'brothers'? Is it really a jealousy or something else? I don't know, but it looks a bit sad to read some of these things, not to say insulting...
I always tend to stay away from any kind of discussion on forums, but as a Montenegrin who has lived here all my life and a member of the only active psytrance DJ organization in Montenegro, I feel the need to say something, especially to the future Sonica visitors and the party people from all over the world...
Of course, Sonica is something completely new and massive for this region. But with every event of this size, there are some obstacles and challenges that need to be confronted and overcomed. Especially if it's some new, unknown location.
The matter of police, drugs and different permissions is much older then this music and I think that every serious event organizer is aware of this! It's really important to secure the place and to ensure that crowd is protected from these kind of problems and it's really stupid to say to an organizer of such a massive event what their job is and what they should do...As they have 4 successful festivals behind them, I think they have faced such problems before and they certainly know how to deal with them much better then anybody else here! They certainly won't organize an event like this on unknown location, before getting to know this area really really good, before gathering enough information about it's laws, authorities and their understanding of these kind of events and all other stuff that is necessary to make this work. So, to put it simple - do NOT teach the teacher
Yes, most of the locals here are not used to these kind of events, but it's not the case only with Montenegro, is it? And about people with gold chains, guns and expensive cars - they have their own places for amusement and they will certainly not go to an open-air event like this, to dance and smile on a field with bunch of hippies! They come from a completely different class of society and they're not even worth mentioning on a forum like this!
Although house music is the most popular electronic genre here, as a psytrance DJ and fan, I can safely say that there is a lot of people that have waited for this kind of an event for a long time...for any kind of electronic event actually! Maybe not all of us are crazy rednecks coming from mountains, you know...
But again, local crowd is not so much important here, because Sonica, as a well known festival which already has 4 successful years behind it, already has it's regular international crowd which will attend no matter where Sonica is, especially if it's on a beautiful location like this...
So, what would I like to say is basicly - sit back, relax & enjoy...and let the people in charge do their job and I guarantee that they'll do their best to make this work!
Just be happy that an event of these proportions is happening in a city/country near you!
Also, I invite all the international crowd to keep spreading the positive vibe about Sonica 2011, can't wait to see you all on a beautiful green field behind Jaz beach so we can all dance and enjoy this unique experience! Stay positive, use your head and see you next summer!

As I've said already...there are people in charge, with much more experience then you and me and they will deal with these problems as professionals...
If you wanted to help that's ok, but these people already know about situation in Montenegro and I'm certain they don't have to read it on some forum to find out about this, there are other, more direct ways...
The laws are like that, I worked in lawyer's office for 2 years and I'm completely aware of this and you can't change anything about that...there are many ways to avoid these problems and again, it's not up to you and me to work on this...all we can do is just use our heads and be cautious, because I wouldn't let a thing like that ruin my good time on a festival like this....
And most important, I certainly didn't want and don't want for this discussion to get derailed and to move it on a political, national level...I was never interested in these kind of topics and there are different, more appropriate places for them...
But I couldn't help but notice some negativity in your tone and I still feel it...and unfortunately most of these negative comments come from fellow Serbians so I didn't write what i wrote with no reason and to cause any trouble...
That's why I felt a need to say something, as a Montenegrin and as a guy who lives here all his life and follows this country's electronic scene for a long time, and for sure knows it better than our neighbours...So, there is no need for strong words here and certainly there's no need for any kind of quarrel! I wish nothing but the best...

As a Montenegrian too (casna kuca Mirovica) I can't help but notice some negativity towards our Serbian neighbours in your post. They (and me, also) are worried, you have to admit - with reason, and I don't see anything political about that. Reason why are Serbs frightened is simple - so many Serbs are visiting Montenegro during summer vacations and so many of them had problems with MN police, and only in Montenegro some lunatics judge belives that people shoud be sent into jail for smoking grass.
Since I have some experience in organizing electronical events (Mogren II - season 2002) in Budva, (sh)it happens that I also know some of those policemen downthere.
No politics, no hate, just simple worry. You should understand that.
Jeb'o politiku. |

You know, when police catch people with drugs, that is almost always because someone snitched them to police. That is well known thing over here.
And you could eat peyotl or psilocybin mushrooms in front of police and they wouldn't know it is psychotropic substance.

Of course, I agree. It's OK to worry and I understand. But do you see anyone from Montenegro here that has posted something similar?
We're simply overjoyed that next summer we will have a great psytrance festival in our country and there are only positive thoughts in our heads...And most of us had similar problems with police like Serbians, because the authorities don't care what's your nationality when they find out you have drugs...Yet again, you don't see us complaining, right?
You'll agree with me that Sonica is much bigger event that anything that you or me or anyone else organized in Montenegro...And there are much more experienced people behind it, trust me...There are ways to solve these problems and they will do their best, whether it's hiring professional security guards, making some deals with local authorities so there won't be so much police patrolling the roads, it doesn't matter what it is, but this is simply not the place for discussing it...
Because, as I've said, there are professionals in charge and what's also important - foreigners might get a completely different and twisted picture about Montenegro and that's something that nobody here would want!
So I hope this discussion heads back to the right direction, because it's in everyone's interest
Slažem se.

wow, you all have a lot of time, I spent a lot just reading all of this
Illegal substances aka drugs are not allowed on every single festival, and that is written on every festival web site/ticket/flayer... and you know that mmike as I know , so here will be the same. As Pseehaw mentioned organizers know what are they making, and they are perfectly aware of everything as they managed to made 4 absolutely incredible festivals with all kind of problems.
So we all need to give them huge support, I am personally very very happy and we all need to be, so from now on we will giving LOVE, PEACE and SUPPORT and let the organizers do the rest, and we will all be happy at the end!
Sonica 2011 will be a BLAST! |

You guys just think about the cops and legal issues...For next 12 months I'm going to think about how all this waiting has paid off...Sunsets with music we all love and with people we care about, all the different types of people u can meet there and chill with them, few days getting out of the city rush and feeling one with mother nature That's a chance fore everyone to restart their brain and enjoy some of the most interesting days of their life, have a unique expirience, and have something to remember later.
Lose yourself in music, find yourself in dance..
