Hey all, here's a little info on our new project.
Check the new track and pics at our myspace page
http://www.myspace.com/sonicspecies
Sonic Species is the long-awaited project of Alex Story (Fromem Ory) and Joe Markendale (G-Nome). Alex and Joe, both inspired by their earlier experiences at the Kentish Liquid Connective parties at the turn of the century, started casually writing together in early 2003 when they both lived in the Canterbury area, but the project got put to one side as they concentrated on establishing their solo projects, and Alex is now situated in London, while Joe's in Brighton studying for a degree. In the summer of 2007 they got back together to write again and found that their production methods were working together in a much more harmonious way than ever before, and their first track 'Lost Transmission', a pumping morning number with their signature digital/organic hybrid sound and a smooth but dynamic psychedelic groove, was considered to be better than the sum of their combined skills. 'Lost Transmission' was instantly picked up by DJ Hamish and Shane Gobi, and is being released on the new Alchemy Records compilation 'Echo', as well as being played across the globe by the Alchemy DJs.
While building the new live set, the pair have already played live and DJ'd at various events including Little Green Planet and the Echo Festival. They're already on the case with new material, and have started negotiating the next release with an international label. Expect tightly-produced energetic, intelligent psychedelic trance, twisted yet subtle, restrained yet emotive, with a strict no-cheese policy and underscored by the mark of combined years of experience.
A little info on their solo projects... Fromem Ory has become an established name in and outside of the UK, and has played several of the UK's most notorious events, including the Nano Origin Stage at Glade Festival amongst many others. He's worked with several world-famed artists, including Anton from The Commercial Hippies, Rinkadink and Whiplash. Alex has released several tracks on various labels, two of which have been remixed by Rinkadink and PsyNina. He's played in several countries and is looking forward to a very busy summer, including several festival dates and a tour in Brazil. The first G-Nome release came out on PharPsyde Records, and provoked a big reaction from many of the scene's key players. As a resident at Little Green Planet, one of England's most famous party crews, and with a back-listing of gigs too vast to elaborate on, as well as being a founding member of the psychedelic funk band Bonze, Joe's become a familiar face in the UK. He's famous for his tight DJ sets which always pack a punch, and always keep the dancefloor locked in groove.
Sonic Species has already proven to be a project where the two minds can meet to synergise. Watch out for them very soon, wherever you are in the world... |
