I did a search & couldn't find a similar topic.

Ambient & Chillout are the sounds that seem to take me back to special times or moments in life more than any other style of music. I find it a bit weird but it's true. Sometimes it's such a vivd emotion that it almost hurt, well it's hard to explain.

For me today I had my iTunes on random while working on my essay for uni and these three tracks really took me back.

Mutagene - "A Lonely Hill" (Databloem) http://www.saikosounds.com/english/display_release.asp?id=5402

Capsula - "Out There Somewhere" (Ajana)

Puff Dragon - "Chinese Radio (Beijing Taxi Version)" (Dakini)

These tracks takes me back to when I first moved to Japan in 2006 to spend a year teaching English & getting to know myself. I ended up in a pretty big city called Fukuoka, but my two flatmates were an ex-US marine who was overweight & obnoxious to the point of being at least verbally abusive to his tiny Japanese "girlfriend". This meant most my time was not spent at home, and and oth Amercian blok who was nice enough but an eccentric geek
who despite good intentions had no clue about social norms.

I had left my girlfriend of 8 years to do this, and it wass my first time leaving everythign home to go somewhere else. I also could not speak a word of Japanese. It was a very lonely time, it almost ruined the relationship with my long time partner (we fixed it and are married now). But these 3 tracks were and are the soundtrack of that time and despite what I've said it was a time of personal learning and experience that is very emotional.

Sorry if this was boring but I felt like putting it here and also to thank these three musicians for the tunes

22 years old, just moved to London from a shitty provincial town in southern England. Got my first job in a studio and living in a squat with a DJ and a drug dealer. Discovering new music, drugs and staying up for days, speeding my tits off.

This track is sunny comedown Sundays in the back garden of 4 Bromfield Street, Islington, London N1.

Lazy hazy summer of 1998 when I was making changes to the course of my life. No particular day or activity. Somehow this just transports me back to that time so vividly that I could open my eyes and find myself back at that point in my life again.

Eh. Looks like the new URL format for YouTube doesn't display. Vid is O Yuki Conjugate's "Ascension" off of their Undercurrents (In Dark Water) release.
