daark: it is too flat, you need to add more dimensions to it. Like something that grabs you from behind or above. Think outside the box and remix it with the notion of making it psychedelic and not a radio-hit. |

Come to think of it, Can anyone think of a rule in music theory, which when broken is no longer catered for by theory?
I'm curious about this break the rules meme that's circulating. Not entirely sure what can be broken. And by implication don't understand why people think that music theory is unnecessary to know, as if it doesn't cater for all possibilities, and therefore inferior.
No matter how minimalist, chromatic or even microtonal, bereft of rhythm, its still explainable in music theory terms.
Who are these people that break so many rules? |

they're like ohh thats a 4/4 beat you have there, sounds nice!
would be a shame if someone would layer 6/6 beat hi-hat nearly roll over it... i guess you call them triolic rasta something.
Pythagoras would have killed you for doing such silly stuff!
But today its cool man.
And because its cool, someone wrote some theories about it. And today we're discussing this important desicions. And we also asking ourselfs, will next gen fellas do even fasta music? And will there ever be a new invention on wich someone might write some theories about it?
btw. wouldn't it be nice if someone explains this scrucutre magic by explaining HOW a DJ would need the tune to mix propetly, DJ Level 3++ PRO stuff? You know like, bars are important, but cou could do 3 bars full power and use 1 bar for a transport to an other key without any drums and then drop again. Or is it legit to do 4 bars full power then use 1 bar for key transport and then drop and use 3 bars full power with the new key? i never go this really right... |
