Hey,
I have been reading this forum for sometime but have only JUST joined..
I once read a topic in this forum regarding song structure but have been unfortunate not too have found it since!!
I produce Psy-Breaks/Psy-Trance and have been working for a long time on getting decent sounds out my kicks, snares, bass, synths, pads etc etc!! but now that they are there I am finding it hard to get the most out of them!! Is there any advice on how to create a song itself?? getting the most out of sounds?? making it all flow n build up??
Thanks people!!

There's no real way to do this except experimentation, because everyone likes it different and everyone has a different style of production, but i imagine the tip you'll get from most people is tension and release. Add things constantly (whether it be percussion, more leads, pads, hits, a change in bassline etc) so that no 16 bars repeat exactly the same, so it builds and builds and creates tension, and then drop it down into something completely minimal in comparison, the release. IMO is the best way to tell stories with sounds and makes songs really exciting and interesting to listen to.

Peace and good luck

Flowing is also a nice way....
you see you can go by feeling, good aid can be the metronome..

but you can also study structure, its called arrangement. and you can also copy a track you like and use that structure if you want to copy

also you can take a pen and papper(or more pens in different colors) And paint a song structure as a diagram
now you can decide if you want a intro or not, maybe you want to jump right in to the action...

(just and example, of course change the numbers to time and maybe a happyometer for the peaks or whatever)
good luck

Think of lego blocks.

Maybe this is too squared or limited for some ppl.

But i find it the best way to achieve balanced structures, thinking of bars (4 kick loop) and then thinking of groups of 4, 8, 16, etc... bars.

I know music can actually be much more complex but if you are new to this and want to achieve nice structures this could become a handy and practical method also it will give u dj friendly results!

So now that you think in blocks just go on and build your track as a storyline; begin setting up some bars for intro then verses and choruses and stuff like that.

And of course gold rule for music and art in any way: experiment and get your own methods.

gut luck
