You would do well to be convinced Flict.
I received mine yesterday.
I have to say that it is somewhat different to what I expected, but I guess I should have expected that given that I dodn't listen to the samples...
Anyway, that aside, I had one listen last night and really enjoyed the soundscape that KiloWatts has created here. It certainly undulates in a coming and going kind of way, and there's even a few sneaky, subtle, chilled beats hiding away in order to surprise you.
I agree with Bodhisattva that this is unique and moving music. It definitely slides well into the Somnia fold, and represents a successful marked departure from Mr Watts' already established musical forms, all of which I enjoy.
Before I heard it I expected something for more akin to Ground State, but I am more than happy that I was incorrect. I can't wait to get home tonight from work and listen again....
It definitely gets 5 x from me.

Rode Falls (trk 2) is my favourite at the moment; it seems to have a timeless melody in the fore, which takes me away to some pastoral locale where I am strolling along a dirt track, amongst the trees and grasses, going where my wandering mind takes me in its myriad imaginings. It really hits the spot.
I love this album, and it keeps getting better with each listen. |

Indeed !
this album is absolutely wonderful from start to end.
it's been a while since I bought an album without listening to the samples like you just did DjSchofield.
can be really fun when the music is good like in this case.
I think that I will do it with the next somnia release and also with the new Nova compilation on Ultimae, though I heard some of the tracks on the fluid radio broadcast of it.

I'll be doing the same on the Nova compilation.
It's funny, but these days I almost always try before I buy, either by listening to the samples or downloading mp3 version first and having a listen (though I very rarely do that).
In the past - before the internet - often it was a case of taking pot luck and just buying something off the rack at the local record/cd shop.
How times have changed.
Tho it is good to take a leap of faith every now and again and wait until you have it in your hands before having that first listen.
Three labels I do this with are Somnia, Ultimae and Zenon Records - all quality! I expect I'll also do the same with Snowblood Records (where Irezumi - Endurance came from, even though they only have one release under their belt, which is not much of a track record).

Yes, I buy almost everything from Ultimae.
over the years I learned that I can always trust on their team and artists to always provide something special ! and I really don't need to listen to the samples but in most cases I just can help myself cause I really want to here what kind of beauty I should look forward to this time, you know the feeling, it's just so tempting and I'm always curious.
I completely agree with on the faith thing, it's always exciting to put a CD in the CD player without knowing what to look forward to... |

Still enjoying this.
And on another Somnia note, it's been a while between releases. Wonder when the next one will appear. I seem to recall that it was going to the printers some months ago... hmm..... hopefully early next year. |
