something strange happened last night....

as usual i made a copy of my project onto my other drive after i made some major changes. because there was already another copy on the other drive, i overwrited the existing file.
when i got back to cubase sx and opened the file (the original..not the copy) it said that the pathname had changed and asked me to chose wether the old path (E:Anakoluth) or the new one (D:Anakoluth) is the project folder. i chose the old one. so when the file was loaded i was pretty shocked, because that file actually was the one that i overwrited (without the changes i made)!!
now i am asking : what happened? why does it ask me for the new path of the project folder, if i opened the original one which was in the project folder E:Anakoluth ?? why the heck are my (big...) changes gone now???
if anyone want to share some ideas...or similar experience...please post... thx, R.

dude the same thing has happened to me even a lot of times: possibilities :
see exactly wat has happened here iz that according to me ,u're confused about if the new or the changed file was actually in E drive : cause it looks like u did the reverse of what u actually wanted 2 do : you replaced the new or the modified file with the old one.
the best thing iz to keep u'r backup files in a folder which has a totally different name.

hehe only 2 things .. why .. do u make your backup so far ??? put in the same folder and .. reduce the path name indeed short name .
ex .. anakoluth - track_name_bla_bla , your backup u can put a shorter name .. like track_name_is_bla_bla back .
in the same project folder .
if this doesn't work .. just start with logic audio  PP
anakoloth or just ask to matias(quest) , i might know how to make this "save thing "or just run logic audio eheh

Sometimes destiny has strange ways to tell you what way you have to take...
Lost many things in such strange situations too... but after some time I found that it was good the way it was.. and what I made instead was much better..
Finally I don't wonder anymore if I loose files..
I just ask myself what could have been the reason for loosing it.. (of course not the technical, but the cosmic reason)
Laugh, wonder, think I'm crazy..
anyway, it works dammd good for me
BTW, going to watch matrix3 this evening ;-)

raphi: have fun at the cinema mate, for me..i dont like films going like 1, 2, 3 etc, so i didnt see the second one, and wont definetly see the 3rd.  but this is off the topic, sorry.
minus: i'm 95% sure, that i always, ONLY worked with the file placed in E:. so i didnt mix up the files or so....unwise something even stranger happened 
billy: i'm feeling with you bro
analogX: copies on an other drive are a must, imo. and now way with logic, i love cubase
thanx for your help guys, seems its a really strange thang going on, or it was my fault......anyways, luckily i saved the presets, so i'm now on the way to re-arrange the melody....sorry for this thread too, but i just had to whine at someones shoulder

off topic: The film was great, 100% perfect. 10better than part2.. its not 1,2,3.. after part 3 you see that it is a whole artwork divided into three

OT again (the last one before thread gets locked ) : i dont need more than the first one, which actually already was a whole artwork. i found the end of it so genious, that i dont want to destroy it with watching the other ones, because i especially like "stuff" without clear ends, like "Pi" or most "X-Files" episodes.
