I bought it but didnt play much tracks in a set because it was really alot lower in quality than most other cd's. And that is not just because of the loudness war.

his tracks i usually really like.. just dont like the production quality.

Yes, I hear what you are saying, although I heard him a few months ago, play out his new stuff, he also played after Zen Mechanics (whose production I rate also, although not the style) and as soon as the tall guy started playing, the sound got a lot better and it was very good during Zen's live set as well.
What can I say, I call them as I hear them.

DIY / punk rock is the name of the game now.

regarding DIY/Punk rock....whether you meant it in jest or earnest, I couldn't agree more! I personally am more captivated by the 'emotional' content, rather than mixing/mastering expertise...i'm biased, though, because my favorite punk rock only relies on two chords

In the full-on realm:

COSMIC TONE (especially his new stuff, and his collabs with Noga and Visual Paradox)
Sesto Sento
Gataka

Domestic/Ido Ophir
Astrix
Quadra
Save The Robot (Quadra + Alien Project)
Aquatica

Like or dislike their tracks, they all put out some amazingly mixed and mastered tracks.

I must agree with you whether other like it or not
names like these are synonym of quality, impressive mixing skills and association with great emerging mastering wizards like Bog.
Sesto Sento
System Nipel
Urecken
Bizzare Contact
Electro Sun
Vibe Tribe
Quadra
Astrix
Systemic
Also Dacru people
Digicult
Aquila
The usual suspects.

I too like some punk rock. MC5 are prob my favorite but we are discussing what is predominately electronic music here. Programmed music. Its not really about capturing the rawness of a bands performance.

True enough. I suppose I was referencing BastardSamadhi's comment about it being punk rock now...as in attitude/DIY. Mc5 were bad-ass...I like the Stooges, better.
I used to metaphor to simply state that there can be an incredabley polished tune, with meticulous mixing...but if the emotive content doesn't hit me, it doesn't matter. This is of course an opinion...and I too am discussing electronic music.

I agree with how you have put it now. Though good music that is well produced is better still.

I think electronic music is more reliant on timbre and generally can have a short shelf life.

Seen....Absolutely! I'm not suggesting shirking the production process...good music produced well IS better, for sure, but it's still good music
Bad music produced well, is still.....bad.           "Any act, if in accordance with the Will, is an act of Magick."

EvsY - both the Round 1 and Tarinat albums are an example of great music produced poorly, but for my listening pleasure it adds something raw that I like. Lots of great punk sounds better in it's raw state than it would with good production too, imho.
