Hey Altom, I do understand your point. And I´m on your side. No need to be so agressive. If you worked you deserve to be paid.
I just tried to shed some light at what perhaps could have happened. I´ve seen these situations I described a lot. For instance: could you have gone to the toilet during your set? That´s ok, normal, right, human. But perhaps the Japanese side could have felt it was not right.
That´s my point: you´re right, but according to their unique minds you´re not.
That´s the only justification for not paying you: ijime (what you can translate as stonewalling, bullying). For he must have money available: TPE is a successful event here.

Sorry if it sounded aggressive to you, it wasn't : I was just explaining myself in a direct way .
I understand your point too...but I will repeat myself again : you really don't know my personality ; I've always been super respectfull with japanese people, much much much more than a lot of people I've seen , and I'm a bigger artist than them, I mean as altom, if I did something bad, I would still have some more "credit" than others.
Also, after reflection, if respect is so significative for them...I wonder what they think of what they have done to me, if it's somehow respectable...and I wonder if anything "bad" I could do , would ever beat this...
Anyway, now I understood this " ijime " concept, I guess I will look back what I could have done between september and october which made him disapear...because it's really a question mark

"I've always been super respectfull with japanese people,"
I can only agree.. Me and all the rest in the world who had the pleasure of getting to Tomas a little bit can only fill in that he is a 100% guy and allways showed me a somewhat taoistic behaviour that is only signs of what more is is inside. I hope Tomas gets his money because so much he did for TPE is beyind belief this can happen. But since I am also human and know that sometimes things go wrong I also learned the hard way to just get back on track and pay back what you owe and get on things again.. Im sure you can both find a way to make this history and go forward with new releases as such as Tomas brought out for them...

hey man
thats really a bad story, sorry to hear this. and it does not matter if he lieks you or not, buisness is buisness, u dont have to get married, its about u did ur job, and then he should pay you.
i dunno about how much money it is about, but if its a reasonable payment, i would concidder an laywer, altough thast maybe to much of a hassle.
further on, if u have contacts arrounfd him, u should let them know. i know 1 thing about japanese people and that is they are proud people, so the last thing he wants for sure is that people arround him will know about this. he will be ashamed about it for sure.
the organisation he is with, contact all his asociates, for sure the mesage will get to him. and he will be definatly feeling uncomfortable about it.
still is strange as i do not know much about him, but i know japanese paople dont act liek this, and you knwo taht too, so concidder that there is maybe just maybe another problem, he feels maybe uncomfortable to talk to you about it.
so try to get a hold of him, and if you do, then see if he has a good explenation for his recent strange behavior
well thats all i can say about it
greets and respect from amsterdam

After more than one year, still haven't been paid, while TPE are still doing parties and yoshida alias dj yoshidance is still playing the "dead", like nothing happened, or like I don't exist...we also still haven't received a single cd from the compilation we made for TPE.
Hearing lots of rumors, it seems that the trance scene in Japan is becoming really weird...

the Tokyo trance scene is leading the way in commercialising what was once more about liberation than fashion. Seriously, trance is more or less mainstream culture in Shibuya. The stupid, excessively image conscious garu & garuo are right into it. I'd never heard of T. P. E. before but I checked out their website & I've seen the CDs in stores - these guys are leading the way in releasing cheesy, accessible shit to people who have no interest in psychedelia. What can I say? It doesn't surprise me that they're shit people, assuming there's nothing more to this than what you say there is of course

sorry altom but the mainstream so-called 'trance' scene in tokyo has been 'wierd' for a long time.....i dont blame you for not seeing it till now since u dont live here and only came here to play and get paid....that makes it easier to not notice all the negative elements - gangsters, money and glamour, excessive focus on fashion, drugs, dealers and fights, all the things that come with a immature cheesy mainstream party like the one you speak of... i doubt you will get paid but i hope something gets worked out. what a shame

Why don't all artist team up, make a cooperation.
Any artist that has everything sorted (contract etc) but doesn't get paid notifies all fellow artist in the brotherhood and the organisation that didn't pay goes on the black list.
None of the artists do any work for any organisations on the black list until the payment is done.
I know this is easier said then done, and maybe not all artists would agree to do this.
But there is a point here; if nobody wants to play for a crooked organisation, however succesful or famous, it naturally dies... |

spliffnik hit the nail right on the head..of course japan has some nice parties, but overall the scence is decrepid and malignant for the most part with little kids and plastic gangsters prancing about wacked out on anything available, which is why i left after growing up there for 12 years. it was so special and beautiful between 1998-2003 in my opinion, but is now just a sweet memory. hope you get paid and TPE will eventually succomb to their own bad energy.. |

The underground scene is booming in Japan... some of the best parties i've ever been to in my life!!!
The bigger party scene (500+ people) is dying... for a lot of the reasons given above.
Do a little research and you'll find the good parties!
