Das Fung: Just like I don't recommend Reason for newbies as it is a waste of time learning that program when you can use something that takes a little more to learn like Logic that has so many more features, I don't recommend people to copy other people's way of work. Recommending not to copy in the long term does a lot more good than bad. I don't see my words as damaging.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

Das Fung:

"I agree that experiment is a key to success but not for everyone , most just need to be at mainstream to produce ! "

I don't think psytrance is mainstream

Now my mixing tip:

Create groups of elements in your mix. Elements means that you group your percussion (completly or with subgroups like drums, snares and hh and so on), bass(es) and kick, leads, pads, one effects.

Send these elements grouped into mixer channels(five elements are normally good for a clear result), where you can eq them to fit together.

While eqing this elements cut and avoid boosting (if it sounds well, there are no rules, a little boost on the basskick group helped me sometimes )

Now look at your eqs (its good to see them all on the screen), start to play with the frequencies .

I mean, cut a little highs from the fx, so there is room for the perc, make room for the bass kick, just set up your eqs, that every element has its part and room in the mix.

Hope you get it (clear)

i think im gotting ur idea... but wich program u use for... what came to my mind was for example im working in logic... so reading what u say... i would put all the groups of the respective sounds... in one bus (this way i can eq the group) am i right? or what u suggest

This thread is good, i think EYB gave away a very good tip! grouping channels as elements is also good way to keep you things organized! and controlling the mix will become much easier

a addon would be to use a multiband compressor on the groups, but thats allready been told too many times..hehe

Mitra, i would EQ the channels individual! and with a multiband compressor you can controll in wich frequency the sound should be in, and get maximum loudness on that or those sounds..
