hi i have been using FL studio for a little while now and am having alot of fun but i have a couple of questions which i hope can get answered.

first off, how does one go about being able to sort of fade sounds in and out? no just with volume, but with effects like reverb, wet/dry, delays etc.

and then the second question, is basically like the first. because to use this effects i'll need to know how to be able to turn the ffect up and down over the course of the sound being played.

the effect i'm wondering about is almost like a talkbox effect, but over any sound. infected mushroom uses it alot, heres anexample.

here is a song with the effect in it.

at 1.46 they put it on that croaking sort of sound

at 3.20 they put it on the 'drum rolling' kick

at 3.40 they use it on that sound that you can hear rising in frequency or something.

at 6.30

and 7.12 and 7.30 its used on the kick again

1. Not sure how it's done in FL studio, but in cubase you can alter any paramater of a sound or effect by automating it. So for example you can automate the volume to rise and fall, or you can automate the wetness of a plugin so over a period of time the sound gets more and more delay. In cubase you do this either by hitting 'write' on the automation line then fiddling with the vst and it records whatever you do and plays it back the same next time. or you can just edit the automation line manually to make sweeps and stuff..

again not sure how to do it in fl studio as i am unfamiliar with it.

2. That effect, or at least the one on the kick rolls, just sounds like a filter, probably bandpass or hi pass, and raising the cutoff up and down to give it that effect. used shitloads in psytrance mainly in buildups and stuff like that. so you'd just want to put a plugin in like filterVST on the kick channel, and automate the cutoff to rise up.

that's a very cool feature in FL. Is it possible to generate lfo automations like that in Cubase or is it just all free drawing with the pencil tool?           www.musicproductionnatural.com || www.facebook.com/djamoeba | facebook page

Automation, automation, and automation.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

Your partially correct..what he is talking about is a formant filter...which is just a cascade of bandpass filters..
You can get formants with 2 bandpass filters in parallel but you can't really get vowells without at least 4 in parallel..Multiple modulators -> carrier with messing around with FM index is another way to produce formants but thats not what is going on in that clip.
Just search for a vst formant filter, im sure there are some around.

Do you guys think infected would simply pass it through a formant filter, or do you think they'd actually go through all the hassle of programming 4 different bandpass-filters just to gain more control?
