Release Notes:
[ Random Friday ] is a sleek and buoyant uptempo album by Swedish composer Solar Fields in the same vein as [ Earthshine ] released in 2007. 10 chiseled High-Tech tracks with compact kicks, deep basslines, floating & hypnotic atmospheres, lighthearted melodies and a definite sense of groove! Magnus Birgersson offers his own definition of dance floor music, with a fine mix of progressive, acid, electro & ambient influences - pushing the audio spectrum production one level up. Get ready this time for a multi-colored, fresh & dynamic story : Pick a Friday and lift it off! Everything is possible.
Looking forward
Cheers !

Samples sound surprisingly fascinating to me. I was surprised, because I didn`t like his first uptempo album, but this one is just for me. |

Progresive for me was always boring except some master artists of that music. But Solar Fields isn`t that. As same as Earthshine this is something that i will avoid in big circle.

Hey Misha,
Long time no see
Hope this finds you well and happy
Based on your posts in the last years, I assume that you are an open-minded guy. . . so I was a bit surprised to read your last post - I mean deciding to avoid an album before even listening to the whole thing, or at least to a few full tracks, seems a bit weird to me. Especially when it comes to Solar Fields or any other Ultimae artists.
I mean ruling it out just because it falls under the progressive label and because you didn't like Earthshine, seems a bit hasty. . .
After all, I believe it's always worth checking out albums at least a couple of times before deciding to avoid them.
Otherwise in some cases we would miss something that might would have given us much pleasure
Anyway, just my opinion
Really looking forward to the album, as I loved the samples and loved Earthshine.
Cheers !

^ Since I sometimes tend to make similar comments like Misha just did, I jump into this. I think, that it is okay to have an opinion on art. And if it is not positive it is okay too. I do not think, that one has to give a certain album a lot of listens to give it every possible chance. Time is just too short, sadly, and one has to make decisions continiously. This goes with music selection too. But apart from that, of course it would be better to check everything a lot of times, but who can do that with everything? |

Did anybody say that it is not ok to have an opinion ? Positive or negative ?
Did anybody say that one should listen to a certain album a lot of times in order to give it every possible chance ?
Gunter, my friend, you should read more carefully before responding
In my eyes All opinions and comments are welcome as long as they are polite, intelligent and not offensive. And Misha's comment was certainly all of those.
I simply gave Misha an advice which from he might benefit in this case and in general.
I didn't try to defend Solar Fields' music - it needs no defending. It speaks for itself, and who ever likes it likes it, and who ever not likes it not likes it.
It is all a matter of taste. . .
Cheers !

P.S: I also know that Misha is a fan of Solar Fields' ambient downtempo stuff, so that is also why I thought he should perhaps give [ Random Friday ] another chance once it is out.

Okay, maybe I did not read your comment correctly. maybe I widened it to other situations. Because I regognised you posting in some situations, that people should not think bad about this or that album, but instead relisten and enjoy the beauty, which will be recognised one time. Maybe I remembered that. And that allways confused me a bit. Maybe because I am living in the present. If I don`t like, I don`t like. And I don`t want to give everything a relisten nonstop. But since I know, that you want to help, and you actually meant it very friendly, it`s all good. This way maybe lots of people recognise something, which they would miss otherwise. So, actually it`s very helpful, just got me confused a bit, but maybe I am the only one confused. BTW: In general I am very thankful to you for all your help. I mean, man, what you recommended to me, this opend new doors. Today I am listening to lots of music, that I would never listen to, if you wouldn`t have recommended it. What I wrote above was just an impression, that I wanted to share and not meant in a bad way. |

Yep, of course it's all good
I didn't think that you mean anything in a bad way
And also I'm glad I could open new doors for you, it makes me feel good that you enjoy something I recommended, since it is like spreading good energy or inspiration.
I am also still grateful to you for the "Spirit of Eden" recommendation. I have actually been listening to it a lot these past few days.
And I can see what you mean about me saying several times before that sometimes it's worth checking out an album again, but I never say don't think like that or like this about anything like you said I do. Maybe you just didn't express yourself well
People are allowed to think whatever they want.
The reason I always say it's worth checking out an album again even if you didn't like it at first, is because some of my favorite albums are albums which I didn't really feel at first.
Sometimes, when expectations or prejudice are involved, they can cloud our mind from seeing / hearing a certain type of beauty, and prevent our soul from feeling something special.
It also relates to how open a person is for the music he / she is listening to at the moment - depending if the person ever heard something similar before or not, though of course it doesn't have to effect. Sometimes you just click with an album, no matter if you heard something like that before or not.
It also depends on how is your life in general at the moment etc.
Some of the things I listen to now are things which I would not listen to 5 or 6 years ago.
Things change. . .
Anyway, I'll stop now
Best wishes
