I don't know if I agree with you on the fact that Ultimae or pretty much any ambient label is an "established company", especially not Ultimae back in 2003 as opposed to what it is today. They released their limited edition back in 2003.
Take FAX for example, they had limited editions, and back then they did not sell them for twice the price of other CD's on the market much like they don't do today.
I think, he has the point saying that in order to make the
second release, he needs money. It's simple: if I would
not going to like something- packaging, music or the price, I won't buy the second release. And I think, he should stop to sell preorders for CDs, which are not exist yet. This is kind of awkward.
I ordered my copy, just to support the new label and
the great artists participating in this project.
Kudos to you, and really in the end it does come down to supply and demand. If people want and can pay for it, sure, go for it.
It just sort of sucks that the project caters to those who can pay the steeper price positioning it to be a membership ticket to some sort of exclusive club of select few.

Hey kudos to him for the idea.
I mean he made the money to start the label from ripping of collectors via the discogs value for cd's and now he is continuing this idea by selling limited cd's with a few big names that I know a few already who will pay for this no matter what the price.
Now if the line up was really full of acts I know, say for example Dakini's TM 2, I would pay this price, but as I seriously only know say 3 acts, then no way will I buy it.
I"ll pay $10US for a poster size of the cover print tho!

you know the saying "less is more"..it applies here
i think that charging a lot more than what we are used to (22E) for the limited edition cd is a very interesting concept...esp in the age of rapidshare!!!
cd's are these days becoming collectables...last year i bought somnia release 003-007 ( 2 copies of 007!) just because they were sooo special...
it interesting to compare prices however..
if i buy cd's thru my contact via arabesque i pay about 7Euro...thats not much per cd for the label...i can understand why the last bluetech is only avail for $15 from the label site...I guess the street shop makes a bigger profit than the label, but the shop also take a risk with stock sitting on the shelf that no one buys...
i have just seen 2 independant shops in my town that sells amongst other , psy and chillout cd's go out of business this month..
ulimately if this release is super cool, and the music is all 100% friggin awesome then this price concept is good.

Hey Guys,
Thanx for your interrest and comments, everything here is interresting to read.
So I went to the press plant today and checked for another packaging to save on useless fees.
Deluxe Digipacks 100% recycled/Eco are exxxtremely expensive and this was first part of my mind.
But we had a good talk with guys there about a Digipack "mailer" FC compliant type of packaging, it's like a 4 panel Digipack without the plastic tray.CD is inserted in between the carton from inside.
So even better the 300 Digipacks "mailer" hand numbered versions will costs less and I opted for no plastic wrapping in any way.
I'll also print 200 other carton - like style of packaging (alike Entheogenic last album) eco friendly FC compliant as well.
So I'll match both my will to release Eco friendly releases and maybe meet people who are not happy to pay more than 10eur a CD 
Of course the 300 Mailer-Digipacks will be numbered but not the 200 others (I have to print a minimum of 500 CD's as to get a proper Glass master (no CDr's).
Now the good news is that an Eco Digipack-mailer will cost only 16eur Worldwide Priority Postage Incl. and simple Eco-cart with inserted CD on one side will cost 10eur Worldwide Priority Postage Incl.
So I'll refund 6eur. to everyone who already sent me the 22eur as preorders.
Then tonite I'll change infos on my website and such as the release date will be also postponed until 20/02 because of the 2 way of packaging, this will take 5 days more to be completed.

I just wanted to chime in here and say that Zen is true to his word. I had a notice of the partial refund before I had even read about the price reduction. I definitely appreciate the reduced price and very much look forward to purchasing the future releases (and do my bit to support Altar Records).

Thanks, I found it surfing the next for fractal type images. Wish I could find a full image to print as a poster!
No worries about support and sorry for the extra trouble you have gone to  But I think it is for the best as more people will be exposed to yur sounds legally
Can't wait for it to arrive now!
ps is there any possibility in the world of the cover being printed as a poster?
Would be so nice to look at in my home studio for inspiration

Ho yes I'll have 12x18 po posters with infos, etc on it, so as to get only the design on a poster I can do it but the price for printing especially one at 20x25 per exemple is not cheap! |

Sure Misha_ If you have a credit card, there's an option to do it securely thru paypal when you order, just click on the credit card logos...
No credit card? Still you can send a 10 or 20eur bill in between 2 postcards in an enveloppe...tape it well and done!

I'll have some 12x18 posters available for free with any order of 2 items or more for the first 20 cool psy people ;)
The only thing is that poster will be folded in 4 to fit in the package :/
I asked to print 30x35 posters it cost 60$us each ouchhhh!
