TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE FESTIVAL
3 December -7 December 2002
Summer party season is almost upon us........
only 5 more weeks and we'll all be partying in the bush, under that big, big African sky.
Activity for the Eclipse festival has intensified quite dramatically. We have been setting up the venue for three months already....building roads, clearing the camp sites, building showers, toilets and all the basic infrastructure.
Since the venue is situated on tribal land, the support of the local villages was crucial and we are being constantly blown away at how we have been embraced by the people of Venda.
Louis (our decor co-ordinator) is working closely with local artists on-site to create a truly African tribal feel to the event. Imagine African art in UV!!
Here's a few reminders for the trip......
THINGS TO BRING
NB: Local drinking water must be boiled before drinking it.
Bottled water will be on sale at all bars on site.
It is advisable if travelling to the area in a vehicle to please bring 25 liters of drinking water.
The following will be highly useful :
Sun - block , torch & spare batteries , insect -repellent , drinking water ,
tent & camping gear , shade covering , gas cookers ( no fires allowed/needed ),
mosquito nets, sun-hat .
***Special Warning***
This is classified as a low risk malaria area as is all the Kruger Park.
Prevention is better than cure so a good insect repellent is essential.
Cover up around sun-set with long sleeved shirts & trousers.
Malaria medicine should be started well in advance of any visit to the area.
In addition to anti-malarial medicine, mosquito spray should also be utilized.

December up there should be classified as high risk as you probably know if you're from there...
i don't think anyone should bring kids as they are most likely to be bitten...but for the grown up as you said if you take care you should be fine...
Mind you when one is gonna be off his face ..is he gonna remember about spray and tablets ??...we'll see...
