This masterpiece of music is the debut album of Tony 'Voyeur' Buehlmann and Heinz 'Henry' Loeertscher
...together better known as Solano, coming from Switzerland and bringing finest progressive sound to the audience. They have previously been featured by labels like Dance N Dust Records, Tribal Tribe / Sony and Vertikal Records.
Now, this album is the first full lenght extract of their sophisticated work. The listeners will find tracks in a range from stomping off-beat to groovy progressive which live from slowly increasing themes and deep clubbybuild-ups.They offer a funky and groovy mix between Trance, Techno and House.
With their first album 'Blackout' these guys emphasize their claim on being one of the rising stars in the world of progressive dance music.
Iono music is very proud to announce this respectable release.
The review:
Yeah yeah. It makes me think who gets to write those promotexts. I couldn't do that, all that buttkissing... hehehe Ok let's get this show on the road.
Track 1: We start off immediately with some breakbeat kinda rhythm and percussions. After a while it settles to a 4/4 beat and we're off. Starting off kinda minimal actually. Near the end some melodies come in. It's a nice opener, although nothing really special.
Track 2: After a long intro in which nothing really happens, at 2:10 we're finally underway. A standard little bassline, some sounds, percussion and pretty standard in sound overall. Once it does get going though, it manages to create a sort of hypnotizing effect on me. And I kinda like this. Good track. Break at around 7:40 and after that it goes into some sort of breakbeat style again. I probably would've done this differently, but hey, I'm not the Solano guys after all.
Track 3: Fruiti Blanche is a track that has been released on a compilation before, so most proggy lovers will remember this one. What's to tell? Nothing much really. A nice groove, more deeper in sound than the previous tracks and it has a somewhat darker feel to it. It's also the most coherent track so far. Good stuff.
Track 4: Starts off with a more house oriented rhythm. Has a nice melody too. Strong work on the drive in this one, it feels like it could go on forever, pumping on the dancefloor. Nice track, more like dark progressive house.
Track 5: Has a more lighter electronic feel to it, and indeed it sounds more electro oriented as well later on in the track. Nice work on the flow on this one. Overall, an ok track again, and ya gotta love those subtle melodies in this.
Track 6: More in trance territory again, this one has some nice rhythms and subtle pleasant melodies, giving this a more sunny feel. I'm liking this one. One of the best so far for me. Great stuff. Build-up is great too.
Track 7: On to the 7th track, which already has the word 'sun' in its title, so let's see if we continue the more sunny vibe of track 6. Atmospheric start, then a kick comes in. Percussion follows and then hi-hats. It all sounds really tight, more so than tracks 4,5,6. Anyway, an ok vibe, not as sunny as track 6 though. Good track.
Track 8: More progressive psytrance again, this one sounds like a track Perfect Stranger could have produced, were it not for some screeching noises that give it that distinct Solano feel to it. Nothing really special, but an ok track nonetheless.
Track 9: The last one already and this is more laidback stuff, easier going and pretty deep. Good work on the melodies and the rhythm section and overall sounding really tight.
Conclusion time:
Ok, for a debut album this is solid stuff I can tell you. Overall most tracks here are good stuff, but if there's one thing that this project can improve on it's to make tracks more recognizable. I'm not saying to turn commercial or anything (far be that from me) but most tracks here are pretty forgettable. Oh well, on the other hand it increases the chance you'll listen to this again soon. An 8/10 from me and I look forward to future stuff from these guys.
