For some reason a lot of softsynths sound thin and small in comparison to most hardware... I don't know exactly why either... But u can change that softsynth sound easily with some stereotools like a chorus or a stereo-enhancer or by doubling it... It will sound much fuller fast... But there are enough softsynths that sound full-bodied and wide enough too, it depends on what u have and what u compare it to...
Don't forget that u can have that discussion between hardware too... Why is it that my pulse can create such an incredible perceived loudness and width, while my juno-60 doesn't achieve that amount of perceived loudness/width at all? It only sounds as wide as the pulse if i turn on the chorus... Same question, same answer... And a juno-60 is not a bad synth... Ask simon posford, he used it a lot |
