I was wondering, does anyone use soft clipping or tube distortion (real tubes or simulated) when producing or mastering their tracks?

When do you think it's best applied and what effect does it have?

I just bought the tube-pack from cdsoundmasters.com for Nebula. Havent gotten to try them out too much yet, but they definetively add some "warmth" or fizziness (in a good way) to what you apply it to. Its a subtle effect, so i can predict using it along with some tape/pre's on alot of channels to smooothe out the sound...           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

i use them on all tracks to get more separation and depth but it s not really noticeable when you solo one track, it is when 10 are playing at the same time .

Its the best plugin ive ever used so far. It does EAT cpu, but the pro-version you get when you buy NAT3 makes it way faster and quite usable. It kinda changes your workflow since you have to bounce alot, but damn, its so worth it. It sounds brilliant. Ive never used much hardware, but by using nebula I get the feeling I have worked with hardware before... it has this "edge" that Ive never heard ITB before... not so weird, as it actually "emulates" (not by code/algorithm as UAD fex does it) real hardware...

But I like Nebula even more!           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

sound very promising indeed,

just downloaded the free versions to test that stuff in the next days....

you said you get a nebula3 pro version if you buy nat3?

is that another version than the one you get when you buy this nebula3+nat2 package for 80€??

if the soundquality is so good, and the prices are rather low, is there some drawback, besides cpu hungryness, that i miss?

cheers
