awesome party. danced to many great sets this weekend. i think the layout choice this time worked really well, it brought people together more, you could feel the difference. the weather was perfect in the daytime, the night time chill didn't bother me too much. |

Wow, it was a truly awesome weekend. The music seems to get better and better at every party. Thank you to the organizers and everybody else involved; including all the attendees, who truly made the vibe great throughout the event.
Highlights:
OPENMIND - Michael played a fantastic live set on Saturday morning. I had a great time dancing. His inspiring creativity in production makes him a true gem in the California psytrance scene.
CORAL - I had never seen Coral before, I guess I missed her set at Gemini. So this was a big surprise to me all around. I loved her set style, and it kept me dancing the whole time. It was also great rapping with her about music.
KIVA - Your night sets (since you've started playing them more recently), have thoroughly impressed me. I'm usually more of a daytime fan, but I definitely love dancing to funky night beats; especially the ones you've been playing. Great job, and great energy throughout the whole set.
CHROMATONE - Going into this party I had never heard Chromatone play before. I am well aware in that he is a local favorite amongst the DJ's, and so I went into the set more curious than anything. The result was that I absolutely loved every minute of your set. Your set was the best transition between night and morning music that I've ever heard. I loved the melodic night trance, and the harder edged morning trance. I thought the music was absolutely PERFECT for timeslot. The result is that I've come out of this party a Chromatone fan.
MAD MAXX - I went into this party expecting greatness from Maxx's set, but he still blew me away in every way possible. His harder edged, yet funky and pumping Full-On is some of the best out there at the moment; and his recent style has matured really nicely. It was amazing to hear those tracks in such high quality on such an amazing sound system. I recall somebody walking up to me during his set, turning to me and saying, "It's so nice to wake up, and be able to enjoy this music on such a great sound system." I don't think I could put it any better myself. I hope that we bring Maxx back to Southern California SOON! To date, his set may be the best I've ever danced to.
Andy BARAKUDA - I loved your set following Maxx's. It was deep, driving, and very funky. I loved the electro funk full-on you were throwing on! And of course awesome and unique mixing style.
POLI - This was an interesting set. I may have enjoyed previous ones a bit more, but that is not to say that this one wasn't good. I thought it was more experimental than I've heard him play previously at parties. I recognized a lot of the tracks he was playing, and some I've even played myself. What I thought was experimental was that around the middle of his set, he started to bring the bpm down, and eventually we ended up somewhere around 140bpm. Then you put on one of my recent favorites in the BPM range, (Dusty Kid - Kore (GMS Remix)). I did not expect to hear that kind of music at the party. I have not heard much of a transition between full-on and progressive before, and this was definitely an interesting spin.
Again, thank you to everybody involved. See you all at the next one, hopefully soon.

Coral is the joint. Smart move to include her in things. We miss her in NY, but are very happy to see her spreading Coral energy far and wide.
1UP for SoCal staples David and Andy as well, keeping the bar high for homegrown DJs. |

I second that emotion! Nice one vase! Great mixy mixes and killer beats!
What can I say... What a fucken party! Love the new spot like Matt said. All the djs played proper! Sorry I had to miss Saturday and especially Corals set (next time!) I almost missed this party due to a family wedding. Sooo glad I made it out. And shit I even got to play a set haha! Good times! I said it time and time again I love my LA/SF/SD/SB psy familia~!!!!! We are really mixing the soup in Cali nicely and it has proven time and time again that this is the best medicine for us all! Really am starting to see the lines between cities disappear and it brings nothing but a warmness to my heart and fuels my soul! Soo good ahhhhhh sooo goood.

I *did not* know you guys had it going on this good here!
My wife and I recently moved to the US, circumstances landing us in SoCal wondering if we'd have to spend our psy time inside our own headphones.
I knew I could catch Baba Gil here with some luck, and that there were some teams organizing stuff here and there, mostly further north, but America, especially California, having such dominant music genres almost drowning out everything else, didn't look like the place for finding a really high quality psytrance party or festival.
So I wasn't holding my breath when the music started at the Freakshow even though I was really looking forward to the Jellyheadz performance and I was seeing a Funktion-One system before me.
What a night. I was wonderfully amazed, I did not expect to be hearing that sound from inside the United States. Everybody was great on the first night and the greatness more or less continued to the very last moment. It's even more amazing when you get transferred to that psychedelic space we all sorta un-know and love when you least expect it. Sheer abstraction supported by smiles, good vibes and beautiful biped lifeforms in their natural environment. BooM!
A few years ago on one amazing morning in Thailand, a skinny young prophet deep in a trance blissfully told me there are no endings and no escape, only new beginnings, new beginnings.

welcome to Southern California! glad you found the psyscene and you will be happy to know that California has the best psytrance scene in the States. North and South California. In fact there have been great parties every weekend for like the past 5 weeks straight. This weekend is another great one in the desert.
this party was absolutely wonderful. I arrived early friday evening, got a nice secluded campsite and prepared for a weekend of fun. The music friday night was top notch but unfortunately I had to get some sleep early saturday morning. I spent a lot of saturday night on the dancefloor. Spent a lot of time walkin around meeting people the whole weekend, great vibes and great mix of people from all scenes. Cheers to all the organizers for putting together one hell of a party! bOM

Concurred.
Great Great Times awesome way to kinda finalize the great year we had at the La Jolla campground. Just wonderful memories when I think of it right now. LOVED the deco at the Green Sector stage, really great job whoever done it big props, magical and halloweeny indeed, again thow nowhere to chill, just some rugs would be great I guess I will bring some next time. I thought the costumes stole the show for sure, amazing ideas and executions (Did you see the cockroach ??????) Elvis lady was amazing too.
Music was really good in both nights (and I am not a night time music lover generally) MUBALI rocked it-a bit softer then usual great psychedelic stuff. Jellyheads I thought also played great stuff.
Vasily-The Rabbi Unleashed great set of tracks which got me flowing all over the place. Bypass played really pumping flowy Proggressive set-Loved It.
I was actually a bit disappointed from the music on Sunday morning. The music kinda was not progressing as much as I would want it to... (I like it when there is a story being told and you just follow it) To me it was kinda staying in the same comfortable spot. Push the envelope a bit Dj's
My opinion...
Gotta love that location the energy was way higher then the usual parking lot, the trees and the closeness made the dancefloor for sure.
Well great times see ya at the next one.

this party was tons of fun, i was uber-pissed i had to leave saturday eve. had tons of fun playing to a hungry ravenous crowd of trancers waiting to hear some music friday night! best sets i heard by far were mubali and arahat, but props to Scenator for playing a totally dark morning set. wasn't expecting that. kept me awake a little longer.
