i heard that a fire was burning near santa clarita and magic mountain....
anyone have a idea how Jack and the ranch is fairing?

Thanks for your concern Dan.
I am safe. Hundreds of homes were destroyed just in the small suburb I live at (RB, north san diego county).
the air quality is very bad all around and dangerous to breathe.
I hope everyone else affected in socal is doing OK.

all's okay for all the people i know about...
though the smoke at times makes it feel like fallout... Simi Valley looked near apocalyptic on sunday due to santa clarita from the north, and malibu from the south both billowing smoke... (which sucks to breathe)
i've had friends, and friend's families evacuted from malibu, moorpark, santa clarita, canyon country - you name it, but its all part of living here.
but the lighter side is that:
a)we are but guests in the SoCal area... this type of natural occurrence has been happening for centuries.
b) a LOT of the chaparral vegetation requires fire for germination, and the Santa Ana winds feeding the flames also spread plant seeds, and all the nitrogen and nutrients released in the soil from the fire coupled with the rains that Nov and Dec and Jan will bring (since it doesn't snow here) will make for a VERY green spring.
c) the sunsets with all the smoke are BEAUTIFUL. |

d) A LOT of us who are in the middle of all these fires don't have to go to school or work.... Rachel and I are like, "where are all the last minute parties?" hehe:) I guess we have to make our own or just wait for the weekend.
