One of us usually makes the track and the other one, tjecks in once in a while with input... in rare cases One starts the track and builds some kinda idea and the other one finishes it...

my lady friend and i are very different we are very sharing of all ascpects of the sounds and arrangment. there is rarely a part of the songs where it isnt playing at least one of each of our sounds and sometimes playing two sounds we both worked on. We sit there together and watch and backseat drive to the other person if they like the idea they use it if not we are just ok with our ideas getting rejected. I think though it may be very different working with someone you are in a relationship with though there is a much stronger bond to start off and a better understanding on working as a team. so i think if you want a successful project make sure you do it with someone who you really connect with even just on a friend level jsut make sure its the kinda person youd have fun sitting in a totally empty room with.

Switching every 30min or so. Both make different parts in the same key, preferably so it fits together otherwise just for another part of the track. Then go thru the parts and discuss the basic arrangement. After that both doesnt need to attend really. The one we did it at works on the details and mix it and then check if both are happy another day, thats how we do it. This is mostly how it happens but can go back and forth alittle depending on how many changes are made.

sit together and work together.... make use of both minds...... if someone wants a break and watch tv or play game... the other one can fiddle till the other one got the creative juice flowing again....

i like to work like a team and be equally involved... discuss and be active...

note that i only hade a few chances to work two and two, but i we both have been present in the work...

When I work with Prahlad as "Multiband Conspiracy", we make the basic elements together, like drums bassline, percs and hook, then take turns playing in bits, then later take turns tweaking it and sequencing the parts that we recorded. Kind of cycles taking turns then sitting together again to decide how to continue. We live in different countries so we tend to visit and lock ourselves in the studio for 3 -4 days at a time.

Studio wise he is a serious gearslut with PC / Cubase and lots of external gear. I work on Mac and Logic Studio -which we plug into the audio in of cubase and synch with midi, so I use logic as an instrument and record the parts in Cubase. Then when project is almost done, we convert parts in cubase to audio, and export to OMF file which can be opened in logic when I go home, in case I want to make my own mix.

no duo unfortunately or not, but the way is to formerly dream of glorious memories, beautiful happy and shiny moments, or sad, melancholic and foggy thoughts and try to make them sounds, follow my current feelings, or think of the lsd and what i like to listen or what will that specific sound interacts with such feelings and state of mind (dont say you dont do that )...
lots of times im lost in that process between dreaming and translate that in sounds, lost in sound synthesis etc
its all in the flow

I'm still learning to produce by finding what ever I can online. I'm useing FL Studio 8 right now but I also have ableton. The only hardware I have is a crappy midi keyboard. I'm so broke, I would love to partner up with someone who is more expierienced and has midi controllers and stuff so I can see what a live set is all about. Its kinda hard getting out ideas when you don't have the proper equipment. Especially when your trying to mix and master with shit speakers. If anyone in the new york area wants to chat about tips or can share they're knowledege with me then please drop a line. thanx.

This is interesting, I think I agree.
I was tempted to make music with people I don't really dig other than that they make music too, but something was stopping me...           Cytopia.org

I gues this would be a good place to ask this, so what does it mean when a track has two artists vs. each other? Do they team up and do half and half of the track or is one guy changing up and remixing another producers already done track?
