Im curious to know how others work together as a duo?
- Do you have certain jobs? One does basslines, other does samples etc?
- Gear setup? Linking laptops? Does one use hardware, one uses software and controllers?
I would love to see how others do it, please post photos etc.
Thanks!! |

I recently begun to make also music with someone else who is a way more expirienced in this genre,so its nice to check other skills etc.
But you have to make lots of compromises which is not that eazy always.
but we just started so habits got to shape and grow.We change with the mouse so to say but we discuss things like notes or sound colours together.

I used to produce with an experienced friend. We used one laptop and 2 hardware synths (virus + sh101).
We used to switch turns regularly, one searching new sounds, the other sequencing/eqing/mixing. We always modified the sequences together. It's not easy to let the other do things that you would'nt have done yourself or that you dislike at first. But it's easier as you get to know each other.
I did an other collab with a live hardtech producer with an Emu XL7 (him) and a laptop with Fruity Loops midi synced, the laptop being the midi master clock. It used to work pretty good technically even if it was an artistic disaster ! |

I work together with a friend whos been in the tranceproduction business for more than 10 years, if he says something sounds right, it sounds right. I cannot argue :-)
When it comes to creativity we are quite similar, but i do tend to drift away on little things that may or may not even be in the final mix while my friend sees the whole picture from the start. Very comfortable on my part :)

we are a perfect team.
1 is doing the work, the other just tells...
but since some time we also help each other with shortcuts and so on, we know what the otherone is doing...
we also have 2 mouses, then there is no need to change the mouse^^ www.soundcloud.com/orgytime |
