Psytrance
Goa psy
Full on psy
Dark psy
Night psy
Morning psy
Progressive psy
"wtf-have-I-left-out" psy
Everyone seems to have a different idea of the distinctions between these forms of psytrance. Can someone here give me a definitive explanation of the differences (or point me to an article)? I imagine it must be time line related, with Goa psy the earliest on the timeline.
I found this on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psytrance
How accurate is that article? The editors say that the article needs "additional citations for verification".
Thanks a lot.

the subgenres of psytrance, have diverted enough from psy-trance as to be some other genre that is not related to psytrance anymore.
Prog and nigh-time (dark) psy was a lot closer to the root of the psy-trance sound a decade ago.
Nowdays a lot of prog psy sounds too much like techno/club music and dark psy sounds too weird and too fast.
Some people like prog today, some people like dark psy today, and that's fair enough.
Some people dig the israeli sound, and that is fair enough.
If you are a newbie in psytrance, that wiki article sounds pretty spot on.
If you've been following and listening to psytrance for a while you don't need wiki to poin out the differences as they are pretty obvious.
Peace out.

Somebody may write a nice article explaining how West Coast rap is different from East Coast rap. Now, does it matter if I don't listen to rap anyway?
A hundred articles will not bring you any closer to answering your question than that Wikipedia article already did - if you don't listen to those styles of music. And if you do listen to them, after a while you will not need articles to know the difference. |

well in my opinion goa and psytrance have sense, but the other subgenres are just give by unsecure people who needs to identify with something and give subgenres to everything because theire world are so small. example people who likes "dark" generally they have a particular profile (someones thinks they are so rudes ) |
