What are the cental differences between the 'old trance music' (last tenth) and the modern trance?
During the last tenth, the trance music has developed to additional sub-styles.
You may refer to this comparison from these categories:
speed ; length ; structure ; album's structure ; harmony ; effects etc. |

the modern trance is alot less creative....
less harmonies, less structure emphasis, of course almost no album structure....
effects got better that's for sure.

I find the new trance to be far more dancefloor orientated. The BPM's are faster, it's more bass-driven, it's less melodic and I don't think it's as musical, it seems to be more about effects than tunes, although some of the effects are amazing.
Having said that I think I prefer the newer trance, but I think that's because I've got a bit of a thing for bass-worship. I find a lot of the older 'goa' stuff a bit tinny and squeaky.
