Hey guys, ive been noticing that a really
weak point in my currents tracks are my snare drums, I cant get a nice echoish slapish sound out of them...

anybody have some good snare drum samples I could tweak with?

tips would be greatly appreciated as well.

cheers.

for the echoish slapish sound you should add reverb..

ecoish splash = 80s style gated snare?

if so, then put a reverb and after it a noise gate after your snare and play with the gate setting to your liking.

Try to layer a few Tr sample and eq , a good trick is too add reverb and then distortion so you get a snare with a nice tail( you can add reverb again later) ,short snare are not very good for psytrance imo and use compression(sometime you dont need it ,the distotion is just enought). what is important is too start with very clean dry samples and the distortion setting you use .

short snares could work, all depends on style you are trying to do... of course short snares are not fullonish and big, but if you are making minimal, tech or dark stuff then its possible.
