Im currently using the Waves Rverb plugin for reverb but to my ears it doesnt sound totally smooth, the sound is deep but nowhere near as good as Ive heard on some of my favorite tracks. I also have an Alesis Microverb hardware effect rack and although its years old the sound is very smooth but has limited functionality. Is it me or do reverb plugins sound thin and grainy, or am I just using them wrong?

hey.. have you tried the Glacereverb?

i really love this one, it can be a little cpu heavy if you use more instances, but very silky in my opinion and easy to dial the parameters... try it, its free

if u have money to spend on some hardware i would just get a luna card.
scope masterverb that comes with it is very nice, and you will be getting a lot extra not just a reverb.

Waves has a pretty damn good reverb! Surely if you run a good sound through it and tweak for long enough and then EQ the output you can get as good as anything.

yes I've come to find out that if the reverb is at least decent a little eqing of the output can make it sound great.
