Well we have ALOT of out of state peeps coming to the Party. Besides I see the Psytrance scene as more national anyways. It's awesome to go to psytrance events out of state and see people you know from previous shows. That is one thing I love about psytrance. It's like one big happy family!

Define "a lot."
Music, in general, no matter what the genre, reconnects people constantly. As Psychedelic culture is quite a bit smaller in the States than elsewhere, of course it feels like a close-knit family. However, if you want your dancefloor to have more critical mass, you need to cater to the local "family" of EDM listeners and the thousands of possible converts around these parts than solely promoting to the much smaller community of ONLY Trancers here. Promoting only here will give you some people, but promoting in Denver on UN, especially as they're about to take over all of Denverunderground.com's traffic, is the best way to go, end of story.
1000 views here will bring maybe 10-20 people, and those same people are probably on UN if they are local. 1000 views on UN will bring 200+ people, some of which, are non-Trancers.
Catering solely to the out of state market is unwise, but this ain't promotions 101.

it's nice to get out of staters over here, but with Colorado being so remote, the most people we ever gotten from out of state was maybe 20 at Earthdance a few years ago, and that included all the visiting artists too.
in any case, i think online promotion is overrated - it does spread the word around better than sticking flyers on windshields, but the most effective way is still word of mouth. invite all your friends, talk to people at other events, describe what you're doing, make friends with them, hand them flyers - i'd say the ratio was roughly about 5:1 at our past events for people that were invited that way to the ones that found out about the event online.

Man all that was ridiculous guys... I was trying to get a head count of our personal guests (DJ's traveling companions and friends) so that we have them all covered.... and to I get people to just be on this thread talking about Smoke Signals, there trips out here and having fun.
I am disappointed to see it reduced down to yet another discussion of opinions and semantics instead of about music, art and being together.

To me, it feels like you all are on the verge of becoming a group. It takes alot of folks and a lot of different opinions to get things understood. Everyone has a valid piont, to some extent. Use it for what it is. Promote local and national. The locals are definitely your bread and butter. Locals love their local DJ's. Nationally, it is good to let the rest of us know what is going on over there. The more you promote to both sides, the more your group will grow with the rest of the U.S. . So let's get down to doof business and gather the tribes. We all are going to get abong in the end, Bom |

It's interesting, because there really has been a 'psy' family here in colorado for some time...some years ago, there was quite a bit of momentum with Onetribe (which was an umbrella group consisting of many local pro.co's...metameme/psygnosis/mindflux/jagged sound)...but energy seemed to fizzle..different ideas led to different approaches, etc...Now we have Paridigm Prod. who pair up with Wacky Shack (who have been throwin' down in denver for years) and Mtn. Vision...both co.'s have done great things to re-invigorate the 'scene' here...but denver has a history of ebb & flow...when it's on, it's all out, but when it's not....crickets....
I def. see and appriciate the notion of expanding our community here to a national level, yet all the while maintaining the local energy...which in all honesty, is "high maintanence", and does needs constant stocking, lol!
But hey...WAY OFF TOPIC!
Smoke Signals is sure to be a smash! With Luke coming in town..and Withdokta, too? Wow! Only wish I could go :-(

A bit off topic, but not ridiculous...I simply feel that you all should be promoting heavier to the locals, especially through UN, and especially after BSin' with you further yesterday, Daizee, I would like to assist that cause by helping improve viewer traffic there.
Anyhow, super awesome to see you all out last night, wish I coulda had a chance to say goodbye, and many members of our crew will be bangin' around at Smoke Signals for sure...gossiping with you over our little venue drama we jested about, eh?

And Mukti dear, we will be missing you at Smoke Signals for sure, but hope to connect the Monday after!
As for the other stuff... I maintain that the community is the most important aspect of what we do (besides the music of course) and we must remember that in this crazy society, the electronic music heads are family... whether local or across the globe. I just want to see us supporting each other and maintaining a positive vibe.
