This is just something I have been fiddling with, it was originally going to a progressive house track but it kind of transformed into psytrance. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for where to go with it. Just let me know if anything in particular jumps out at you, things that should be fixed, parts that I should get rid of, things it lacks, or even just what kind of ending you think would suit it.

I am just sick of listening to it and need a second opinion.

Thanks in advance!

I would really like a second opinion before I go any further with this, right now I am thinking of ditching the entire first half, before the build, and working on an intro that leads into the build better.

I kind of only like the very end of it and want to focus on centering the track around that theme, the rest is...meh.

Hey!

Nice little track you got there.. But if you want to compete with the music that is out there today you should really try and work more with compressors an eqs.. It feels like you´ve taken some drums from your library and just put them out there completely dry.. no compressors or eq or any kind of processing..

You want to lift your sound! Try to make your sounds more punchy.. more sharp..

I like your melodies..

But tro to phatten the sounds up!

Thanks! and you're right, the drum samples are uncompressed, I was leaving that for later because, well, I am lazy. But yeah, I want to work in some more components to the track then work on grouping my percs and my pads and my leads etc. and giving each probably about 3 layers of compression; a little on each audio channel, then another on the group channel (and likely a bit of sidechain from the kick, particularly for the pad group) then finally the master (probably a mulitband).

But I don't think I will get around to working more on this for a few days, I just really haven't felt like producing lately, so I have just been listening to other music.

yup, this is getting there mate, I think you should go with what you said and ditch the first bit and just have the tune start at 1:57. This happens to me when I make things too, I make two parts that dont fit together very well, usually I try to unite them with a break or somethign but it doesnt work so then i just make two tracks out of it.

I think you can have a wider filter envelope on your bass so it has a bit more high freq component a the start of the note. i think the arpeggiated synth at 2:52 could be wetter too.

keep it up! cutting parts out of a track or splitting it into two can (for me) help with getting reinterested in working on it, if you are sick of it.

good luck!           --

This version is pretty similar to the last, mostly just compressed the drums ad cleaned up some other parts of the production.
