since my partner (contra) started this, ill add another little one that might be fun:

1.take your bassline, open its high freqs, and bounce it. (2 bar loop is enough, depends on when it starts to repeat)
2. on the new channel, eq on higpass (this works nicely on a bass that has audible highs) leave only the clicks of the bass.
3. now you have a pattern matching your bassline of just those percussive clicks, with some reverb, chorus, or other fx, you can have an organic "bassline pusher" that can help boost your track forward in motion.

you can even play around with the notes (slice into 1/16th) and make another melody to compliment the bass. either way the sound will be "fitting" since it came from your original bass anyway.

Wow.... That's a great tip man... definitely deserves a try...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

How about just copying the MIDI notes of your bassline and doing something with that? That seems more flexible to me.

yep, i usually copy the midi of the bassline for claps and introduce them before the actuall bassline comes in for a more blended intro.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

i didnt quite get actually what you mean by "open the high freqs" ? boost the high freqs , bounce and then use high pass filter to eliminate all the lows ...

is that what you mean ?

sone that too since i was playing in a rock band (the bass followed the guitar and not the drums)

not very original (not that ordinary in psy i think) but works splendid...

i meant that usually when you eq a bass, you cut some of the high's so it doesnt crash into the rest of the sounds.... in this case remove that limit since we want those sounds for after the bounce.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."
