on reason 2.5 I want to create that much used sound where it starts at say, C1 and then goes smoothly up and up in key over say 64 steps until you either get a huge breakdown or the end of the build up.
Am i making any sense?

Obviously a simple sine wave will do to start and then i can manipulate the sound to suit but i just need to know how to do it!!!! initial thoughts are that i might use a modulation routing using a matrix to control the escalation of the key with a curve but as im only just starting to dive into modulation routings im a little confused and my intial thoughts are probably display a beginners complete lack of understanding so apologies for that in advance. Help would be much apreciated thanks!!

well, thank you very much . . . . .apparently its 'gold ray' you learn something new everyday

so by definition the ray is actually made of gold rather than resembling gold

hmmmm

thanks dude

easier than u think just turn the pitch bend up to 24 on a subtractor, turn the sustain up the whole way and automate the pitch bend start the whole way down go the whole way up. if you desire more than 48 steps make another note 2 octaves higher directlyafter the first 48 step bend and than automate the pitch bend accordingly If not using hardware this is how I make all my pitch sweeps

I'd use portamento. set 2 notes shortly after each other and work with the portamento time.

or use a modulation matrix, set a slow lfo to automate main pitch. record some of those sweeps and take the best of them.

I prefer those two methods as automation with the pitch wheel depends on motoric skills.

Actually i think he is talking about a "golden shower" ...gold rays are a bit shorter and use a bit less vb1

more or less the same idea though

have a nice day

lol facehead, I knew someone picks it up. I'm not really into drawing automations, I try to program such things. I just pick a slow lfo, set it to control pitch 48:1, retrigger it on note start and that's it.

I think pitchbend even got a higher resolution as 128 positions (standard cc) but I get better /smoother results with a modulation matrix.

there's a dozen way to do this, it's just my prefered way.           soundcloud.com/epsylohm
