Hi guys, I was hoping that someone could help m here. I'm trying to get bass notes to slide in Sylenth.

I'm overlapping notes and using the "S" on the "N/S" switch. I've tried it with and without the Mono legato turned on and even played with the Portamento amount but I still can't get a decent slide happening.(Rather, it feels like a skip in the beat which is groovy but not what I'm after). I suspect it's because the Decay in the Amp envelope is quite tight so it's making the note too short (if ya get my drift).
If I lengthen the decay then I lose the tight bass sound.

What the hell? Am I just being dumb?

Thanks.           https://soundcloud.com/craic-addict

yeah mate. I've decided, thanks to Will Sanquil to automate the |SUS in the Mod Envelope to allow the note to breathe enough for the slide.

Any other suggestions?           https://soundcloud.com/craic-addict

Well, the slide/glide will only word when the synth is actually making a noise, so if you have -inf sustain and a really low release, the synth will stop spitting a signal after the decay and you'll loose the glide.

As you said, making a bigger note / raising the sustain will work. That's about what I do -> wither that or bounce it to audio and make it do what I want.

However, you can also have a cool effect with the pitch bend, automating it to do the bend you want. The synth will still only spit out small sounds, but it will bend the notes you play.

If you want it to sounds like a long slide made of a single note pluck, than you'll need to raise the sustain / release so the note is longer.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

if you're using Ableton, its nice to do this within the clip and not in the timeline as you get to zoom in all nice on the notes. However if you do this make sure to set the sustain to 100% inside Sylenth first before automating from within the clip envelope - as the stuff in the clip envelope scales depending on the setting inside the VST so if you have 100% in your clip envelope but the thing you are modulating is at 0/100% (like a sustain parameter) then you'll get 100% of 0.

If you don't use ableton, nevermind this rabble.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Thanks Knocz some nice ideas there. I got it rocking now Will. I was after that sorta Terrafractyl kinda twisty, funky note bending. Didn't quite get esp coz the filter is affected by the slide but it's a great start! Thanks for yer help on FBook mate. (John )

Here's what it sounds like so far. With out slide then, with slide. You'll hear it.
