First of all hello everybody, iŽm new in this forum... and thanx all of you for the great info!
I wanted tou ask if anyone checked the Sir impulse pluggin as a pre-amp: I want to record some voices with an akg c3000, but my soundcard (delta 1010) doesnt have built in pre-amps, i dont use a mixer neither and I had to sold my dear promeek some weeks ago (still saaaaad...). IŽ ve read in a forum that pre-amp impulses can be loaded in Sir (and other convolution pluggins) and use it as an insert in audio tracks... anyone checked that? That would be great for recording mics, guitars etc...
What do you think about this impulse pluggins for reverb too? Most ppl said they sound better than any other software reverb...
(and sorry for my english, I used to sleep in class). |

There is no such thing as a software preamp.
Thats simply not possible so you have to have a real preamp. The thing about impulse "preamps" is only models of the way other preamps color the sound. It does not do what a preamp is meant to do, wich is amplify the signal to line level so you can record at a high enough level, and provide phantom power.

Thanx AvS, I thought impulse pluggins were a sort of magic thing!
IŽll take your advice tsabeat and IŽll come back to amplitube... though the distortion is a bit sandy-digital sounding... |
