I dont get it, so now I have to pay for the albino to get in the contest? How can I use demo synth for a track.. And as for that Synth 1, always when theres a competition like this ppl stuck to that Synth 1, like theres not one more other Free VST which is better..

OK, to be more precise there is 450 other free synths that are good for this job..

you don't get the fact that it's impossible to make everyone happy?

if you look at the "Isratrance Bank Poll Results" thread lower on the first page right now, you'll understand why albino and synth1 seemed like good choices on this particular forum. you can also clearly see that people voted for albino for this. so that's that. democracy and all that happy shit.

it's a personal challenge anyway. not a competition. so there's absolutely nothing stopping you from taking a synth of your choice and doing this.

there are also various ways of "evaluating" albino and using it for this challenge. but if you see that you enjoy the synth and can see yourself using it often, you should by all means buy it to support the developers.

I'm game... I'll start on it tomorrow.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Da Rules:

1. Synth of choice is Albino (any version).
2. 4 Percussive Audio Samples max.
3. Only native DAW channel eqs are allowed (with 4 band maximum per eq, if your DAW allows more).
4. It's ok to use Battery or your sampler of choice and everything it provides (internal fx, envelopes, etc) for percussive sounds.
5. No other plug-ins are allowed.
6. The challenge starts today, February 1st. All the results should be posted in this thread any time before March 2nd.

let's do it.

Can we not just pick our own synth?

Great Idea

Some people seem to be missing the point though.

I think its a great idea to "force" people to use synths they have never used before, learning is all about pushing yourself and getting out of your comfort zone not continuously using the same synth hence constantly creating the same sounds etc.

The list by X-Rayz is excellent and in my opinion should be used in all future challenges due to the fact they are free and most of us would have never used them which again forces outside of the box thinking and will teach you a hell of a lot more about synthesis than will using Albino 3 yet again !!

I am away to get to it, all the best,

Mark

PS. I dont think it was a good idea to allow us to re-import samples made from the synth into a sampler, basically you have just allowed an unlimited amount of synthesisers and multi instruments to be created. I thought it was 1 VST ONLY, with the import feature being allowed with the sampler you have everything you ever really need to make a track, 1 vst synth, 1 vst sampler which can become many vst synths etc.

I think the idea of of "forcing" oneself to use just one synth is great......If we can individually pick which synth we want to use then everyone is able to take part.

I don't have albino and don't wish to buy it either.

It will be just my luck that no synth I own will ever get picked.....and why does it have to be a VST?

D2 thats why i suggested that in the future we could use something from X-Rayz liust as they are all free synths so no-one need pay for anything

What do u mean by "why does it have to be a vst"?

I think the reason for it being a vst is there is no chance everyone will have the same hardware and the only Application that cant use vsts is Reason so most people, NOT ALL, will have the ability to use a vst which is decided on by the majority.

Why do we all have to use the same synth/vst?

Really what does it matter?

Its an exercise of limitations. For each individual it will be. We don't all need to use the same VST to benefit from the purpose of the exercise.

I am not interesting in installing something that might upset my stable system......and If I end up going through that list of vst's then I will infact just be bloating my system in the long run and having too many options at the end of the exercises. Kinda will end up defeating the point of the exercise in the long run.
