cubase, logic, FL have decent on channel EQ's for this project we're talking now. dunno about Live, Sonar etc.
@ medea
8 are many yes, i agree with 4 but i'll also agree if anyone says he will be more comfortable using up to 6.
@ jizy
of course any onsynth fx are allowed
@ all
1. i suggest samples must be percussion only. (as suggested in the first place)
2. i suggest everyone could use the VSTi of his/her choice; we're not all exact familiar with all synths nor we own them all. as long as he uses only the same for all the sounds of the whole track.
3. on the same way, everyone to be free to use any DAW (along with it's channel EQs) for the same reason as in 2.

3. I use Reaper, it doesn't have channel EQ's. It has ReaEQ instead, it's more powerful then native channel eq's from other DAW's i think. So... i will be careful =)
By the way, i already have a track, made with a single synth, but it was microQ

those who use DAWs with no no-channel EQs
i think native EQs with no more than 4bands could be allowed..
cubase has 4band eq on channel, logic i think also 4 (or maybe 5), FL 3band
after my suggestion about eqing was mostly about HPing and LPing, nothing more.

1. yes, they should be percussion only, and there should be only 4 of them, as this limit would go better with the spirit of the idea.
2. if this was a one-time type deal, then sure. but it'd be cool if this turned into a monthly thing. also, a part of this is to compile all the patches into free Isratrance banks. so each month, we could have an Albino Isratrance bank, Sylenth1 Isratrance bank, etc. people are always asking for patches that were made specifically for psy (to study how they were created). so this would probably help a lot of people. not to mention, it'll simply be interesting to see how different/similar the tracks turn out to be, if we are all forced to use the same synth. the skill of the producer will be easier to tell too, and if something sounds phat/clear/punchy/whatever, then it's due to programming and not because their chosen vsti has better oscs/filters/fx. this would also force people to step outside their comfort zone. who knows, they might discover their new favorite synth.

nice to see people are interested in this. i see more votes for Albino, so unless someone objects, let's go with Albino. i just propsed synth1, since it seems to be popular around here (and in general) and it's free. |

So when is this starting? People should make some definitive decisions about how this is going to happen, set some dates etc so that people actually do it.

Da Rules:
1. Synth of choice is Albino (any version).
2. 4 Percussive Audio Samples max.
3. Only native DAW channel eqs are allowed (with 4 band maximum per eq, if your DAW allows more).
4. It's ok to use Battery or your sampler of choice and everything it provides (internal fx, envelopes, etc) for percussive sounds.
5. No other plug-ins are allowed.
6. The challenge starts today, February 1st. All the results should be posted in this thread any time before March 2nd.
let's do it.
