'The Dance Of Affinity' is the first release by swedish composer Björn Ekegren as ' Sinepearl ' and
the first in a series of ' private pressings ' to be released by Virtual of composers works which we
feel vibrate in sympathy with the labels vision and which have inspired us in some way.
The album is a beautifull mix of meditative ambient and soundscape composition with an organic tone
and a unique character and quality all of its own which invokes images of the changes of the seasons
and natural landscape of Sweden where Bjorn lives and works as a composer.
A demo montage of the album can be found here
http://music.hyperreal.org/artists/ishq/virtual/sp01.html
and the album can be bought on cd from the Virtual shop here
http://music.hyperreal.org/artists/ishq/virtual/shop.html
The album is released as a limited edition pressing of 500 copies with a 4 page booklet and jewelcase
( this album has not been released on mp3 and is only available on cd at the present time )
Thanks for your support as always and we will be back soon with more news +

Mine still has not showed up. In contact with Jacquiline about it though. She may have to send another one.
And Abasio, you're not helping any! |

Sorry!
I hope you get this soon.
If it's any consolation, it wasn't as good when I listened to it on headphones....at the gym...when really pumped up!

Don't you worry! Got my copy last night. It's fabulous. Very "Virtual" but not Hillier. Pretty cool. |

very accomplished release this. listening now. thought i'd give it a mini review......
yes it's very much like ishq in vibe although possibly more cerebral than the very earthy, natural sound of ishq. i can see why matt released it as it does fit in with the virtual vibe.
this is not just soundscape drones....there is a lot of rhythmic interest with bells, chiming digital synths and the odd 303-esque pattern. but this is done sympathetically and the rhythyms have plenty of modulation which never allows the music to become static or repetetive. i'm glad that the composer didn't turn to the drum machine to build on these ideas as this would have detracted from it's unique sound. having said that, drums do occur on the very first track and i don't think it necessarily adds to the album as such, but that's not a particular criticism, just an observation.
sinepearl uses glitchy, fluttery, grain stretched samples throughout to good effect. it would have been easy for him to saturate the mix in these impressive effects but he has resisted the temptation and keeps it to the right degree. there is a lot of interest in the upper regions and overall it is quite a crisp digital sounding mix. wafts of textured synthesis drifting effortlessly together; the lack of deep accomapnying drones keeps the music in a very light, fresh, crisp vibe.
an excellent positive, modern sounding ambient album to reach for first thing in the morning. i think this a release that will satisfy on lots of listens. any fans of ishq could buy this without a second thought and enjoy, no problem. |
