Im know that alot of people don't use just reason ,3-4, for all there production. But I was curious as to how to creat a good full sounding dark bass useing only the sine, square, saw or triangle wave. Anyone have any tips or sugesstions on this?

Is it true that you should try to keep the bass synthisis as simple as possible?

i would tell u to keep it as simple as possible, two waves one saw one square or two saw or two square, and experiment with the settings of a simple substractive synth.after simply eq a bit!
don't chase the'dark' bass,chase the good bass!

in subtractor, its all a matter of finding the right/tight envelopes... that works the same as with any bass synth, there is plenty of stuff to read in this forum.
start with a saw wave, no atack and no release, medium sustain, decay setting the note duration. then if its clicking or if you want a different punch, raise a little (very little) atack and release.
subtractor is not that stable, so i would stick to one osc as simple as you can in the oscilator settings (that "x", "i" and "o" stuff). After that, set a fat LP 12 or 24 filter, and toy with freq cut, little or no resonance. Last step would be setting the filter envelope's decay and amount for xtra "crunch".
those are very common guidelines...
the exact settings depend on what you want, how fat you want and everything.
ps: don't forget to stick a nice compressor for keeping things stable...
ps: if you want a fat and groovy bassline, consider bouncing the bass notes and sampling the good ones using reason's samplers. back when i used reason i remember bouncing a few notes for analysis and subtractor pretty much fucked them all up...
