in your synth there are sockets: MIDI in, MIDI out, and maybe MIDI through.
in your midi interface there may be the same sockets and/or 1 joystick socket.
you should connect as follows. EITHER: <synth's_MIDI_OUT>-----------><PC's_MIDI_IN> or <synth's_MIDI_OUT>-----------><PC's_joystick> for recording the synth's into pc's sequencer
OR: <synth's_MIDI_IN>-----------><PC's_MIDI_OUT> or <synth's_MIDI_IN>-----------><PC's_joystick>
for controlling the synth (e.g. playing it via midi interface)
please tell how did you connect it, and what card/hub do you use...
capisci ?

hmmm "virtual" soundcard ? i don't know what this means. is your soundcard a PCI/ISA card that you can take out of your computer ?
if yes, check c-media's site for the most recent drivers for your windoz (whatever it is), including applications bundle they offer.
and if not, and it's connected to the motherboard, do yourself a favour and buy pci soundcard that suits you (in $ and quality)
