funny as all hell! he pays out on all the big Israely full on losers
"There's what I call
the pop euro-trance side, the sort of Skazi, Infected Mushroom, GMS
side"
"but someone singing about
\"playing the game\" or something is really not for me. It's a great
pop song really, but that's not why I came into trance, to write
pop music. I wanted something sort of psychedelic and different.
Something weird, really. That stuff's just not weird enough for me.
It's very good, it's very well produced, some of the acts doing
it...and very popular. It IS pop trance.
So no substance then?
Well, it's got substance. I listen to all kinds of pop music. I
have some dark pockets of bad taste in my music collection, but
that doesn't mean I want to hear it on drugs. When I got into
trance, maybe not so much now, but back then, there were a lot of
people on a lot of acid at these parties and people's heads were in
a very delicate state and it's a very dangerous thing to be messing
around with people's heads like that. I know I wouldn't want to
hear pop music in that state."
"Now, this pop trance -
It's soup. It sounds like what the super clubs were playing ten
years ago. So it's sort of appropriate I guess, and suddenly we're
on that list."

you suck cock Avi Linker
haha... well if th emaster of psy trance says the Israely pop psy is pretty cruddy and nothing to do with the scene... start taking his advice and sell it as pop music, not psy trance

yeah ok and there'd be no scene now if it wasn't for him or astral.
I suppose you think that Avi Linker and Infected are under rated eh?
at least Simon P sticks to his roots and not to what makes $$$

Nothing wrong in making a living. But what IS wrong is to be focused on the money, letting it control you.

Yes, but i don't think guys like GMS are thinking much more about the money then Simon does. They both have some projects made over the years that are a big succes, and everywhere they come, the place is full with party heads. So why change there style? |

To be honest I don't know GMS' music by heart. But my impression is that they have stepped away from the psychedelic soundscape and have stepped in to the more clubbers soundscape, which is fine, in it's own way. Ibiza is a clubbers paradise (still, i think), and the full-on sound of these guys hits the jackpot in the tranceclubbers heart. Personally I dislike this "coke" music, I think it lacks a lot of geniun soul, and especially the psychedelic heart. Why I mention psychedelic is because the bling-bling trance of today is very much inspired by PsyGoa-trance. What I honour about Simon Posford is that he is genuine, he is real, to his perception of psychedelic mind altering music, and it's world within worlds. He could easily make club music and make even more money, though, Simon is one of the very few respected artists that actually sells a lot of albums by making what he truly enjoys. You don't have to be "in" the psytrance music lovers database to appreciate his musical skills and psychedelic bendings. He has class, high standard and authenticity that is to be respected. I guess in the end it's different strokes for different folks. I just feel that a focus on profit and formulatic music in THIS scene is wrong, it goes against everything I stand for and what I believe this scene should stand for. Time, money has no place in our world. imo.
And when did it become Ok to lower our standards for a quick and easy financial gain?
The Godfather, he didn't lower his standards to appeal to a wider audience.

Your proparly right. But still, I believe they look differently on life and it's paths and purpuses.
What ever that means..

if you bothered ot read my whole post I stated that Simon P has stuck to his root and hasn't changed to make $$$... he still makes quirky weird psychedellic music whether is is psy rock like the new Younger Brother, crazy tripped out world music like Shpongle or still the same nutty psychedellic madness of Hallucinogen...
and to Pavel, there is nothing wrong with make in gmoney mate, but I believe it is wrong to change your form of art simply for making $$$... a true artits will sacrifice all for his original art

we all know that the old glorious isra trance turned into a pop/cheezy euro/brazilian commercial trance........
i wonder what he thinks of the other side of psy...."the night side"....???
he refers to it (at least i think he is referring to this style) at the beginning of his interview as:
"and then there's the more psychedelic, twisted side, which is
less commercial and probably won't do as well, see as big crowds,
but is more in keeping with what I got into it for. Psychedelic is
music for the mind, it's not just to get the crowd whooping, lowest
common denominator, the biggest cheers."???
strong argument......"what he got in the scene for"....!!!
comments??
