Is it just me of lately more and more psy heads start to move towards the electro/house music like an escape of something that they had enough. Personally thats what happened to me in the last year.

Trentemoller
Chris Lake
Navas
David Amo
Schatsi
Minilogue
NDSA
Booka Shade
Sogfiles Compilations!!!

Is it just a wave upon us or we are diving into the wave?
maybe it is just a stage?

can somone relate?

I agree bro..and honestly I'm not liking it!

This is from psyshop in the description of the upcoming "Soul Reflection 2" (va) by Polarlight Records, which is a freestyle oriented prog label. Although the first "Soul Relection" was pretty good, and a bit similar to the new Sogfiles comps, I kind of had to laugh at this :

"The variety of tempo forms the album concept-to blend many styles in one to evolve the forthcoming music trend."

So it isn't enough that we have very obvious rhythmic, melodic, and structural trends? We have to start moving toward a totally different style of music?

In my opinion what makes great music is when you take the current concept and tweak it a bit, not too little, but not too much so that you're in a totally different style than intended..I think this is why people are going crazy over Ananda Shake lately..

I don't see a real serious problem in it, although I almost totally dislike the style. I just hope the music doesn't lose it's meaning..

I don't think it's escapism, to me it's more like wanting to know something about different, but still related styles.

Something like this happened to me over the years, in the very beginning I was more into Israeli stuff, then I started enjoying night full on as well, then some dark tunes, after that proggy stuff...

Today I can easily play sets of proggy (faster or slower) or dark (or chill or full on ), using only originals CDs I bought, which means I really took the time to dig good stuff within these styles. I'm not saying I'm a good DJ, but that time made me wander around some related styles.

That's my experience, probably other people will have different feelings, but I strongly doubt people like you will quit the good and old full on (when produced properly).

No no, they just realized the ambiance was more funny on alternative stages...           .

i cant really say what it is for you......maybe it is escapism maybe your not translating your change in tastes correctly.........i dont know........

for me.........i like some of those artists listed above.......and it is just another form of expression of music.......and it comes under the 'psychedelic' label......i know the term 'psychedelic' can be in question when we talk about some of those artists listed above........and i am not here to debate that issue........

but i do believe it is just another artistic form of expression through music, in the 'psychedelic' genre......and i welcome it very happily.......

Traits of psy music/sounds can be found in many genres and styles of music now!!!

I would say ..... they are just following their hearts and ears!!

It's definately not the demise of the core psy scene ... for sure!!

thought about it some more and found out that i listen less to psytrance then i used to do about 6 years ago. and when ppl asking me what kind of music i like i dont say trance no more.

after thinking why i dont
i got to the conclusion that i know that if ill say trance the first thing that will come to most ppl mind would be in the good case infected, astrix and in the bad case skazi. and none of theme comes close to the trance i like.
so in most cases for most trance dont define what i called trance and since i dont wanna get in to a long explaination about that i like trance but not what they call trance......i just says other music genre which i like.

i think the same happend with the new metal genre
when linkinpark and other posers made pop music claming to be new metal.
fill this genre which was very sucessfull with junk and ran away all its real fans and listeners a and now no body listen to it. and evryone looks at its as a bad joke.

unfortunely same happening here in the psy scene with skazi and the posers crew and thats what makeing all psytrance listener to go look for answeres in other places.
