ah, found a sollution (waves)
for those who don't know, this is how you make your bass pump
In Cubase SX you can try this work around:
1. Load the Key (kick) and Program (bassline) audio files in to 2 mono audio tracks.
2. Make a stereo Group track.
3. Assign the Key track output to the Group track (or assign a send to the group track if you need to
use the Key track for the normal mix as well).
4. Pan the Key track to far Left (if you assigned the send – pan the send).
5. Assign the Program track output to the Group track.
6. Pan the Program track to far Right.
7. In the Group track load the C1 comp-gate, select “L>R” in the key input.
8. You can now set all the parameters desired.
9. In order to Pan the out put (since it will initially be assigned only
to the Right channel) you will
have to Create a new Mono Group and Assign the stereo Groups output to the
mono Group instead of the Master – this way you can Pan the processed Program in the Mix. |

For a full description of one way to set the parameters to best effect, and of how to avoid having to create another group to pan the bass into the centre, check out my previous tutorial here:

try out otium compadre
http://www.otiumfx.com/products.php
It's not that the compressor itself is that remarkable, but that the developer was smart enough to take advantage of sx surround...kinda like Dave Brown, but not in DirectX. |
