Mubz, I'm not understanding what the issue you had was... both the methods you mentioned do what they were meant to do. What exactly did the logic method do that the cubase ones didn't?

I could be wrong, but it seems that part of the problem is that with a modern, well EQ'ed and compressed kick, it is going to take up such a solid chunk of low frequencies that a ducker would basically have to turn down a simultaneous bass note's volume to practically zero for them to not interfere with each other, in which case there is not much point in having a bass note there at all.

Most of these side-chaining things seem more useful in making a K-B-B-B bassline "pump" in order to give the tail of a longer kick enough time to fade out.

What I'm referring to is having the kick and bass play on top of each other and not have it distort each other. I know this can be done because Xyla did it. She rigged something crazy in the Logic environment to turn down the volume of the bass note, but not completely so you can still slightly feel that bass note in there... If you check out the track her and I did together mechanophobia, it's got 4 16th notes for the bass and no distortion whatsoever... I've tried the tc way, and colin's way and every time I try to do that 4 16th note bass, it never works the way that I want it to, such as how it worked in mechanophobia. I'd ask Xyla for her autoload for it, but I use Cubase....           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Couldnt you set up a sidechain EQ? Other than that the only way I know to get that kick on bass working nicely is to take the subs and some of the lows off of a kick to place on the bass note, or maybe tune the kick differently when needed (though I can't get that to sound too convincing).
