I could not find any way to do sidechain on the basic plug-in kit that comes with Cubase SX 2. Am I crazy??
Do you know some way to do it without the specific VST??
Could you list some free VST / pay VST that should work for sidechaining?? Thanks!!

Use the search!!!!!
Don't have time to find the link now, but search and find Colin OOOD's brilliant tutorial on sidechaining with Waves C1-SC...
It's worth it

Its not possible with the compressor that comes with Cubase.
Also with other compressors the only way to do it by using a work around..
As Nik C said, Colins guide is excellent for use with the waves compressor.
This problem does seem to be one of cubases major flaws, imo. |

Thanks guys,
I have search the kvraudio.com and I found the following freeware dinamics:
ndc Plugs / Amplitude Imposer
digitalfishphones / Blockfish
slim slow slider / C3 Multi Band Compressor
mda / Dynamics
mda / Limiter
mda Multiband
Solid State / Logic LMC-1
Smart Electronix / MdspCompressor
Smart Electronix / MjCompressor
I do not really know any of these. Does anyone knows what is the best choice for sidechaining?? Any experience? Any tips??

and exactly why would it be such a bad idea?

I've used the dB Audioware dynamics, it's got stereo sidechain and is easy to use- insert one instance on each track and set send/receive along the required path. good for use on groups too. only problem is that it's pretty cpu hungry. |

If you read sentence above you know output will be mono, so you will loose stereo bassline. Dame as stereo bassline is not advicable thing to do by me, since groove should be mono in dance music,

Oh I see. So it's just something you believe in Maybe next time add "IMO" in front of such statements to avoid questions like this
