yeah a nice way of sidechaining basslines without loosing too much of it is also to split it in 2, highpass and lowpass them, and sidechain the lowpassed channel to the kick.

This way, the low frequncies interfering with the bass in the kick, will be sidechained, but the body of the bass will still be more present than if you were to sidechain the whole bass.

Neat idea. How do you suggest to split them (which notes to hp and which to lp)?           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

You could do that, but usually I just split the channel and send to different channels... then I can apply fx on both.           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

Is there a way to split and send channels inside cubase? Never heard about it.           Monitoring devices, know where you go

I guess the easiest for you guys in cubase, is just to bounce the synth, duplicate it and go from there....

Or use 2 different Basslines, (2 synths)
just make sure the midi notation is the same on both...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Let me make this clear. For example, you have a bassline that is made up of one Jupiter 8 and a Minimoog synth, playing the same midi file.
The jupiter 8 synth is the stereo synth that is hi-passed, and the minimoog synth is the mono synth that covers the low end (with a the cut off quite low with none or slight envelope modulation).
So now you can apply higher gain reduction on the minimoog low end, synth part everytime the kick hits and have a more defined bottom end at each beat.
If you have a 16th monosynth saw bassline that is typical in psytrance where there are no bass notes coinciding with the kick drum, you don't need to go through this whole duplicating midi files for different synths thing.
