Hello,
Here are the Tracks in a Playlist:
http://www.ubetoo.com/members/playlists.aspx?playlistid=1277
We are Side B, we've been making music as a group for 10 years and are just releasing 2 albums for distribution at over 500 stores.
We have made two live performances this year and we're booked on another two.
This is a way to establish new contacts aswell as finding ways to develop our own aswell as (perhaps unestablished) artists or groups.
We are announcing a Remix Competition with 3 cash prizes.
The winner gets €1000, second place gets €500 and the third place gets €250
Besides from the cash prize, there will be a major cooperative performance in the summer of 2011 in Sweden. If you live outside of Sweden, your trip will be paid. The constellation of all 4 of us are going to perform together accompanied by a violin, a cello aswell as a Live drummer. We are hoping to get a guitarist and a choir aswell, but that remains to be fixed.
Please take notice that your skill (or lack of skill) is NOT specifically important. What we judge on is your creativeness. If the mastering isn't your cup of tea, that doesn't matter, we will be working together to finalize the material.
Easy enough... So here are the rules:
1. ONLY for users of Ableton Live, there are NO Exceptions!
2. Remixes will be made of 3 of the tracks from our latest album release "Supposed to B". We have released all tracks as streams on Ubetoo.com. Choose which 3 tracks you want to remix and PM us which tracks you've chosen.
3. We will provide you with the raw Ableton Live file, with all midi-clips and audio clips. If there are plugins required that you don't have, you will get that track as a frozen track instead. We will also provide you with a personal account for an FTP-connection (File Transfer Protocol) to handle file package transfers.
4. Minimum BPM is 135, Maximum BPM is 147, NO exceptions.
5. Genre is of your own choice, not exclusive to EDM (Electronic Dance Music).
6. You will submit 3 properly collected Albleton Live sets using your FTP-connection.
7. Submissions end May 17th 2011 at 12:00 CET (GMT+1). The winners will be announced at May 28th 2011 at no specific time.

Here's some additional info since this forum doesn't allow editing of messages...
The competition is OPEN Genre and FREE Interpretation, so not just Electronic Dance Music.
To participate, listen to the tracks from the playlist and pick 3 of them that you want to compete with.
After you've chosen. Please send a mail to remix@alarian.se with:
- Which tracks you have chosen
- What genre you will be performing in
- Link(-s) to your most relevant songs/productions
Please do not send messages here, it's hard for us to handle!
If you have any questions or other messages, please send a mail to inquiry@alarian.se |

Good...
I've posted this on alot of forums, and I'm not doing this with any intention of making the whole world's producer community our enemies... So if you want to believe it or not, that's entirely up to you
I will not be monitoring this thread in depth any further. Please use above e-mail addresses if you want to apply or have inquiries before you apply.
Have a good day. |

If I had enough money, I would pay you just for the stuff you've already done ^^
But whatever the gratitude I feel for POF's music and performances, my economical situation won't allow €1000 gifts of gratitude |

I'm just saying that once you have this sum of money involved, you will have real pro artists going for this, because again - 1000€ is more than a month's salary in most of the countries in the world.
Unless your point is promoting new artists, your point will be lost.

hum.. perhaps the point is to get pro's involved?? i agree its a lot... really a lot! you can get remixes from dusty kid or popof with that kinda money. and in psytrance with the right connections you can prob get like 3 or 4 big names to remix you just for the winning prize.
Judging from the music too be honest if i had this kinda money i would used it otherwise and made the reward for the contest a bit less important, still i have to take my hat off and say respect, you will probably create a big buzz around this contest since the prizes are really juicy!!

I don't know...
Even if you don't win, you've still produced THREE remixes!
How is €1000 alot in this perspective...
There are now 20 contestants and counting, this means 60 remixes.
Sorry, I can't see anyone's point. If you think it's alot then I was hoping you would compete instead of discussing it |

But you are also suggesting that producers working in other hosts should go and buy Ableton live just to do 3 remixes of your tracks. of course 1000euro would cover those expenses but no one can be sure to win.
But its a really cool thing, which i guess dont happen very often. Strange you only got 20 contestants right now, i would believe more.

I never suggested anyone to buy albeton.
Yeah I think the current amount of contestants is very low aswell...
But I guess people get intimidated when the bid is high. I don't think many people take me very seriously.
Either way, I'm going through with this competition and starting to get it going soon.
And so far, no name I've heard of before has applied. So whatever speculation that the "real pros" would apply is now proven to be wrong
Here's a list of all places I've posted the competition on (that I've kept track of):
abletonlivedj
audiofanzine
synthvox
idmforums
foem
studio
ableton
harderfaster
psymusic
traxsource
inthemix
homerecording
di
djtechtools
djhistory
isratrance
ubetoo
I suppose I would have been cautious about a competition like this too. Especially when you're asked to apply with raw material.
It's just that I'm not asking you to give away your music, I'm asking you to give me back the music I own, after I've exposed our raw material.
I don't feel all comfortable with sharing the inner workings of our years of hard work either. But I'm so sick and tired of the way shit looks in the business.
I'm promoting a more transparent way.
So if I'm losing a bunch of cash in that process, well that's the way it is...
However.
Getting (mostly) whining, complaining, anger, negative speculation, accusations of being fake and all that crap in return...
Makes me a bit disappointed. |
