I personally would like to hear Omri and Yaniv playing the live instruments, and see some other outsider run the computer. I'm curious what the "artists" can truly play live, not outside devoted musicians who are trusted to be good.
I listened to the track and the parts I really like are still coming from the computer. The live bass sounds thinner than the synth bass in the original track, and the combination of live drums and live bass with synths just reminds me of groups like Sound Tribe Sector Nine here in the states, so I'll be honest, I don't find it that stimulating, especially when paid, devoted performance musicians are bringing the "live" aspect to the stage.

Amazing! The bass is very cool, and the drums very lively - You can really hear the joy of playing live and organic on this recording, especially on the second part! The hammond verses are truly amazing as well!
Thank you so much for uploading this!!!
... erm... dare we beg for more????

i don`t think so quasga.
Shulman is known and admired as musical PRODUCER, not as a bassplayer. And in that sense i believe he produces wonderful music. Obviously he is also a musician, but i would never judge any electronic producer by how well they play the bass or the drums.
I think that`s another very enjoyable live act and surely i would love to see this. The fact that he brought amazing musicians to collaborater only adds to overall quality, since he is not an octopus and should focus on what he knows so well, computer music.
Obviously the live bass sounds thinner than the original (wich surely received hours of dedicated compression, eq and amp not to mention mastering), but still sounds pretty good to a live setup, and me myself play bass on reggae bands so ikinda know the limitation$$ of a live setup.
Anyway, i loved the dubby vibes in the middle of the track wich werent available @ the studio version.

Totally agree! A live band is about putting together talented people, to each its speciality, and creating a synergy thereof. From what I heard, that is what Shulman has managed to do on live!

Hey Shulman- thanks for that!!!
Excellent performance, though I still don't like the original too much. This version actually makes it fun to listen to. I never thought I say that on something that started with the stupid original.
And for quasga- what kind of musicians you want them to bring? To me "outside devoted musicians who are trusted to be good" sound like a very good idea. As someone who saw that live I can tell you it really feels like a live band very much glued together. Yaniv is orchastrating the whole show and Omri helps him with the computers. Anyway, who's gonna operate the computer if they play bass and drums exactly? That's dumb. |

"Devoted" being the key word here... What does it matter if they are payed or not. They are musicians, have dedicated their lives to their instruments, and probably love playing Shulman's music.
I like the bass, gives it a jam band feel (good playing near the end). The percs I find blend in less well, they sound too dry, but would probably be a treat to experience live. Nice keys solo.
Dunno if the live setup would sound as good with his deeper tracks though... ie. those from his first two albums.
Row row row your boats gently down the stream; merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream. |

this is an amazing piece, actually fought I would be tired of listening to this track but it is, again, amazing! very very much liked the Jazzy touch of it!
Wishing for the whole if not most of the live performance to be upped...
and to see and feel this live someday!
