Why?
Shpongle is a very respectable duo. I think they deserve to be compared to the likes of Jimi.

Because they're alive first of all they're not a myth,we're not in the sixties,they don't burn guitars,they didn't play at Woodstock,they're a duo,and they're devoted fans of Jimi.
You can't compare a plane with a tomatoe soup,can you...  I can't that's for sure.

I can only speak for myself,
but I'm not comparing?
I'm simply pointing out that Hendrix IS an influence for shpongle.
He does thank hendrix in the liner notes.

isn't star shpangled banner the name of usa's flag? or a nickname, or smth?
anyways if you ask me both hendrix and posford are quite there in the genious level so a comparison can be made

Jimi was an outstanding musician.
Simon is not, he even says so in his interview - that he is not a musician. He is however a great producer.
Not really comparable...

I know you're not comparing Rain,I was jut trying to make a point and your opinion is highly respectable like any other around here
What I'm saying is,whatever you like it, Shpongle or Jimi,that they're not comparable,not because no1 it's better or worst than the other one,just because it's an absolutely different thing...basically  .

Actually who started this question was me, and the first reason i did that was just to make fun of some questions started in this forum allways trying to compare Shpongle to other projects (Violet Vision...Ott), wich, in my opinion, is a bit annoying, as it is also asking people to vote in the best chillout project and whatsoever...it's not that kind of issues that will sustain all the good vibes out there in the scene... off course Shpongle is Wonderfull...Ott is wonderfull...Violet Vision is wonderfull...Jimmi is wonderfull....everything is wonderfull as long as you let it be wonderfull....there is room for everyone in this planet
