i'm taking bets on how many months late this will be released; everyone mail me a bottle of your nation's finest liquor and the winner will get it all. I'm guessing 5 months late, or March 2010....lets say, second tuesday of the month.

At least the tracklist indicates that there'll be some longer tracks on there, rather than 20 smaller ones.
Interested to hear it. |

Well Shpongle is not chill or laid back music in the true sense..it's something to be heard with an open mind. The music engulfs you and stimulates your senses. Does the new album do justice to the citizens of Shpongleland? I am happy to say..yes indeed.
This album feels like it's the culmination of the first two albums, as if someone has taken bits and pieces from the first two and mixed it with new rhythms, distorted vocals, heavy percussion and subtle melodies. The Raja Ram flute makes a comeback. There is more emphasis on acoustic elements, as if the duo recorded some elements live. The flow of the tracks is not as subtle as one would expect but Shpongle sticks to what they know best and there are no major surprises here except for the vocals in the 7th track.
The music is no less psychedelic and it feels as if you are coming down from a high point to land in bliss. For me Simon and Raja Ram have now completed the trilogy. Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland is something which "Nothing Lasts... But Nothing Is Lost" wanted to be.
When I reached the end of the album, I felt I wanted more...does that say something? Old school fans will appreciate the effort. This is what I feel on my first listen

Wow! Listened to this, shpongled, on my Shure SE-530 triple driver earbuds this afternoon... while lying in a hammock with a blindfold on. Parts just blew me out of my mind and body.
It was shocking good. THE long awaited followup to ''Tales of the Inexpressible" - 8 years later. The level of production and creativity is SO FAR beyond what other downtempo / psy producers are making - they are like a cardboard cookie-cutters and this is a real, living, breathing alien octopus.
It's like a new level of music / sonic art.
It sounded so intricate and complex that I wondered what it will sound like over dozens of listens in different frames of mind.
Opinion after one spin: MONSTER HIT.
