I was just going though my mates samples CDs and I noticed vocal and drum samples from Divine Moments of Truth. How much of this tune did they do them selves.

Not not knocking the track coz it's wicked, just wondering.

I think that they used sample cd's for pretty much all of the first album. The other two have more original-recording type stuff.

Yeah, was a little disappointed when I found some of the samples from Shpongle myself. But only because they found it first           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

well dudes,

i agree, its somehow disappointing to find out some funky tracks are actually so good because of samples from sample cds and you always thought man how did they do this an that...

but actually, try to build these settings around the samples like sphongle did. the amazing sound scapes, the psychedelic dripping tripping story those samples are embedded in.. try to make something out of the same samples for yourself and you will find how hard that is.... sphongle albums are masterpieces, also in usage of samples...

though i have to admit the new younger brother album i like better than any sphongle release so far...

I don't post a whole lot on this forum. But I just have to say the new Younger brother is absolute shit!! That is one of Simon Posford's worst releases IMO.

I like it a lot, it feels like the direction Shpongle could have taken instead of the glitchy/digital path it took.

As for the sample CDs, the most famous is the Spectrasonics "Vocal Planet" ( http://www.spectrasonics.net/libraries/vocalplanet.php - check out the sample for 'World'). Oh no, they didn't create everything from scratch! Just most of it, oh well.

Still good music.

lots of the shpongle's music is loops from sample cd's and ripped from world music albums
i can give examples exactly where from they took those samples!

Raja Ram and Posford are one of the pioneers of this scene.

those acoustic composition very easy to play. its not so complex for pro's
i mean how the hell you making music from sample cd's when you have so many years of music experience , money ...etc
they are so many years in music industry . they have studios and good equipment.

recording bansuri flute its realy not big deal!

when you doing eskimo bassline its not copy IMHO
but when you taking entire acoustic melodic compositions wich is not yours...this is copy!

what they did with this samples is genious combination with electronic music and brilliant arrangement

i still like and listening shpongle....but respect that i had to their music achievement is almost gone!

So what if they used the sample cd's. Those sample cd's have been available to everyone else as well but no one came up with anything nearly as good as them!           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

exactly, the freedom is in your hands, you got tools (samples, synths, instruments) it's all just a matter of what you create with them! even though it has been done using samples, everyone uses those, we're making electronic music here, right? so just use whatever you have, steal others ideas, make your brilliant creation for people to be inspired with. Just like Simon did with his friends by Yonger Brother to me!           Monitoring devices, know where you go

imho, its even harder to implement a sample (or even a whole melody or rythm loop) inside a track, than making just your own stuff

shpongle did always great stuff, and I dont really bother if they use samples or not           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

To be respected you have to do everything from scartch ? They are just tools, having the best guitar does not make you a good guitar player, its what you do with it, you can buy all the samples in the world but creativity and talent...its not possible to buy that.

It's a long way from sample to entire DMT track or a complete Shpongle album. Those who think otherwise obviously still have to develop their hearing a bit and try to actually make a track that will sound anywhere near Shpongle.

But I agree about the Younger Brother thou... I completely fail to understand the "back to the garage and my Fender telecaster" move he made. Maybe it's just "one for the money and two for the show"           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"
