I think that the problem its the one i want to call "coyotes ciberneticos", ppl without etic and profesionalism and that doesnt love the scene and they only see the scene as a way to get money.

They're ppl that just want to get the artist for their self and they open his "Bookings Agencies", then the artist tell them "well my charge per booking its 500 USD" and later this ppl "coyotes ciberneticos" tell to the rest of ppl that makes parties that the artist cost 1000 USD.

For this types of situations ots better to talk directly with the artist, but are alot of ppl that doesnt know. And this "Coyotes" make their shit selling open dates for alot of money.

You'll think "who is this guy? or what? Well, im a young guy that want to change the scene in Mexico, i'm pissed off with this kind of movements, negativism that exist in our country for something that's magical and of the one i think im part of, well then i wont allow this anymore that the scene destroy.

Its better that the ppl that sells the dates of artist be ppl with experience and trayectory in our country, and other thing is they should put the charges per booking of the artist in a website or something, so the abuse stop, not like all do, in msn, thats an insult.

Greetings everyone!

I think Mayo has put a very good point forward.

I have been in the trance scene for 5 years now internationally promoting and playing around in underground and not so commercial parties. Parties where i have found a message and soul to it.... avibe that we are all familiar with.

I was dissapoited in mexico to see this exact point about young people who just go into it for the money. lot of them dont know about the music... perhaps just the usual suspects.... compact, utopia, chemical crew., hommega, spun. BUt hey what about he local and nacional talent and how about other great labels like nano, alchemy, solsctice, etc.. I mean dont get me wrong there are still very good parties with soul and what i can call real.... but they are not that easy to come around....especially in colima... and a lot have been infected by this commercial clubby, let me take a pill and dance my tits off attitude and music. I mean its fun a few times (and im being nice when i say this) but diversity of labels and communication is lacking in mexico. No offence to all israeli producers but theres more to psytrance then just israel. But in the end most promoters just want security and money so they get the usual suspects. But being a promoter is taking risks and presenting something new....not to be a sheep and do the same as the rest.

Imho i believe that if u want to get involed in the scene as a promoter.... well firstly you should have experience and as mayo says understand ur country and scene and have the contacts for ur make ur bookings (reliable sources).... secondly and for me i think its the most important point, is that u should not do it for the money. This is wrong. Quite honestly u never make a lot of money from parties if u look to make good quality productions. I mean yes there is a profit that can come out but it should be used to reinvest in the next... well this is mho. It is better to make 3 or 4 parties a year but make them special and really focuse on what is all the multitasking of events and get the right people who work and not those who accept and dont do their jobs. Like anything when u hire people you have to be exigente because u are paying of a service. If they are not ready to do their job well dont work with them.

One thing i have learnt form my experience and growing with Frakasound is if u want to live from something u must first make it live and this is what my experience from frakasound (switzerland) has been. Im glad to say after 5 years of hard giving and sacrifices and lessons learnt, today we are a label and we still have much to learn and mature, but we have our heads on our shoulders. I work in a hotel in mexico for a year now as food an beverage manager but i love the scene and i love to contribute and really keep it real... i think you can do both if u have the discipline.

At my work i provide a service, based on quality and satisfaction. Well thats what i want in my parties for the people who sacrifice their money and put their trust inside me and my team. Same for the artists.

I think already it is great that for example in this topic people are questioning this and putting the info forward to talk about and discuss. Yes mexico has a suffering from a negative image with international artists. As a public we need to show these poor unprofesional promoters we are here and that we are watching them. And all other promoters who now what its about should start or continue networking to get rid of these .... im sorry to say disease that infect ur beautful scene.

I love mexico and i love what it offers. It is truly magical and so much can be done. We just need time to work on it and i think people are waking up.

I hope perhaps my point of view as a foreigner is of use but if i am wrong in some places please correct me. I am here to learn and grow. These are not criticisms but observations that i have experienced.

thanks guys and namaste

I would like to add Sonic Soul crew from Guadalajara to the list.
They were planning a party November 3rd in Tapalpa, Jalisco (Free Your Mind). From the beginning when he booked DigiCult / Nemesis with us, I told him I only wanted to work if he was serious and he always told me no problem. Now he never sent money for advance payment or plane tickets eventhough we agreed upon that, he promised a few times he would, but then never did. and now I get an e-mail saying it's cancelled because they didn't get a permit for the party!
This is unfortunately common practice, saying they will send hte advance, never doing it, giving no information and then suddenly close to the date, the party is cancelled.
Don't these people realize that we are keeping dates for our atitst open for them? refusing other booking offers for that date?
and especially this guy, since I was telling him from the beginning that this is something that we wanted to avoid and he always told me no problem!!
This is the guy's info:
Víctor Macedo [hongolucion@gmail.com]
there's not much we can do about it, but at least we can try to warn people about it so that these practises will happen less

and I've been hearing the same situation for other artists that were booked to play there
why don't they send any money like agreed, because they know in advance their party is shit! so why keep telling bullshit to the artists?          Dacru Records

yea we(Utopia Records) also got fucked up by Sonic Soul he wanted to book us 2 artists Spade and Brain Damage

i sent him many emails asking for the advance of the airplanes and fees, he always told me that tomorrow and so on, so suddenly i received an email telling me that the government didnt gave him the permit to make the party, but i remember that when he contacted me for making the booking he told me that he had all the permits all the money, everything for a professional FESTIVAL... what becomes a lie in an end point, since he was fooling around.

I also want to say something about some "new promote group" from monterrey that doesnt have a name yet, but still they also fool us with the Brain Damage booking, the "owner" of this "promote group" is called LIL, so immature that he couldnt tell me the trouth since the begining, and he never show his face up, even though we live in the same city. WHAT A SHAME

also i would like to say something about perfect days merida ... ive worked with them several times.. and i havent had a trouble with them at all, maybe its a matter of luck or something, but all the times ive played for them they really treat me as i want to, very professional. and Killer project, we worked with them 2 times, the first one PHANATIC we didnt had any trouble, but with VIBE TRIBE we had a really hard time, since the organization was not as good as it should be.

and also about "coyetes ciberneticos" yea i agree with you mayo, unfortunatelly they want to fill their EGO with that, telling that they book all the artists and so on, saying that they are really good friends from them and shit like that.

its a shame to have these situations in mexico.

Just like a3k said, it is a shame to have these situations everywhere!

I brought this into attention because I believe that here in our country exists the wrong perception (which thanks God is starting to disappear) that we are the only place in the world where we have to deal with bad promoters, bad parties, dj's not showing up or not being paid... But trust me it happens everywhere, sometimes with more frequency some times less but it DOES happen

and while it's true that maybe there are other scenes that are more organized, things look bright for the scene in Mexico, in the upcoming months we'll have a wave of great parties, made by profesional responsible organizers who do it because it's what they love to do there are also more and more artists and labels having success in Mexico and abroad, and a lot of people from mexico has been travelling around learning things from scenes in other countries, let's hope these ravers of today will be the promoters of tomorrow who will keep the vibe alive

There is no doubt that it is unprofessional for some of the promoters to cancel in the manner that some people allegedly did, but it's even uglier to complain about it and put them on a public forum and black list about them cancelling out on you.....

This is an interesting reply Magox, and it made me think about it, I guess it is a tough issue because some people would find it unethical to complain about promoters in a public forum, but at the same time, I guess that if there is people around screwing artists and doing things in a wrong way it is their responsibility to warn others so they don't get screwed too.

mho on this topic is the following.

Don't be trigger happy and don't complain for things that aren't really important

Only complain if the organizer is really messing around and affecting others

Think twice about complaining and try to do it with more head than gut, sometimes when we are angry or frustrated we act by impulse and stop being objective or impartial

If you really have to complain do it constructively if possible

Keep in mind that as you have the right to complain so does the promoter to defend himself and let others to know his version of the story, if this starts a fight the topic will be locked and both parties will have to settle this issue privately.

And finally if you didn't like a party or a promoter instead of posting here why don't you post a party review instead, try to focus on what was good too, sometimes promoters are just unexperienced and they didn't mean no harm they could become great promoters if they are receptive to constructive advice.

Respect!

Speaking of ADAN MATA.. I have a story too. He arranged a tour for my girlfriend, lots of promises and indeed like he said: all professional, jeje what a joke! Most gigs got canceled and he never even informed her, he booked her 3 times for his own party in monterrey, also these got canceled without giving any further info. Than in december she went to play in Queretaro, Adan gave her a credit card with which she could take the money out, since the promotor did deposit her fee on Adan's account. UNTILL TODAY she has not been able to take out money with this credit card, he used the money himself to support his own life. Usually the guy does not respond to mails or phone calls, IF he does (usually drunk) he claims to be on his way to the bank to send the money. Lie after lie. The story goes on and on, but will not bother too much, just people, never ever even think of trusting this name, ADAN and his AMM management!           Dj Matte (Etnicanet Records)
