Alright, here's my first mix I'm posting. Doesn't sound perfect but it's good enough to my ears

This is very rough, I didn't do a very good job mastering but it took so long to do it on my crappy computer (audacity kept crashing due to running out of disk space!) that I haven't gotten around to redoing it.
As for doing it in mixmeister, it's a very versatile program and I like using it very much. I'm very proficient with CDJs and a mixer and feel no need to prove that to anyone, but my CD setup at home isn't very good, and I don't have a working CD burner at the moment anyhow.
If the tracks in this mix seem overused (I have no idea, I'm kind of new to the scene), it's because this mix is intended for people who've never heard of psytrance, so I tried to think of what I think are the best-made accessible goa/psy tracks to the kind of people I hang out with.

excellent stuff here, combination of different styles and vibes to a complete psy trip..
As you mentioned, mixing turned out wrong at some points, but overall it was a very good mix.

yeah it's a lot harder to make a smooth mix when the tracks aren't all the exact same style, heh
in particular the two proggy tracks (the plasmotek and son kite ones) are eq'd heavily towards the bass so for example in the first mix the leads from the second track start to dominate and then when the bass switches, if you're listening to it through a sub, it's like "wtf where did all that bass go" but listening to it on headphones you don't notice (which is why it came out like that, I don't really have good speakers at home)
then on the other hand the afgin track has barely any bass partly because the bassline is so high up on the scale. I don't really think it's that well-produced of a track but I *love* the melody. I just wish it reached the octave, it seems like it wants to go up there but never quite makes it |
