Man, I m just amazed on how funny some narrow minded people get when they try to make themselves better than others. How distant they get from the real facts.
I read this forum everyday for a while and luckily people have always been very kind to me. The reason I m posting this topic is that sometimes I see injustice to new people here and feel like some guys (minority, thanks god) have showed lack of patience. In my case, as I already had some skills, this forum works like advanced searches for my needs. But I think that we should always place ourselves in people’s situation and support them as we wish to be supported no matter the difference regarding knowledge and experience levels.

1) People use to get inside other peoples topic only to complain and say it’s pointless. They forget that knowledge has lots of different levels and steps to be achieved. It s natural that new producers have more simple questions and need more real examples and explanations. It doesn’t mean that who s asking “how do I make this sound?” will always repeat other people s sounds. He might want to understand it first, try his self, experiment changes, or whatever. It s up to the public or record labels to decide who s original and sounds good and who is only a cheap copy of another. Let them discover the truth, cause it will always come through when it s the right time.

2) Every topic posted in a forum has a title. If you don t like it or if it doesn’t t interest you, you just keep your mouse and cursor away from this topic. You just don’t need to read what’s posted there. That s why we title’s are for: to make us able to select what we want to read or not. Simple as that.

3) How can someone complain about people who ask for a kind of explanation regarding other artist’s techniques if on every single thing we learned in life we used the same method??? If we re able to do things (like eating, speaking, enjoying music, walking, riding a car, having sex, riding a bike, watching TV), our skills come exactly from learning with other people. Learning means imitating, comparing and trying ourselves.
Regarding music, all artists in all genres always and ever had received influence from
earlier artists, even people who invented some new music genre. They had to listen, to try to play their music, and then developed their own.
If we re here developing our projects here today, is because someone earlier took some other people ideas and mixed them into psytrance. Simple as that.

4) It s very easy for people to say that older projects (gms or raja ram for instance) is old fashioned and sounded crap like I’ve read many times. But I d like to say to those who only critics others, that earlier artists (it doesn’t matter if we like them or not to listen to their music cause we have the right to choose our favorites) play a very important hole in psytrance evolution concerning production techniques and trends. We’ve got to respect people who make part of a genre s history even if we’ll ever play their CD by our own will.

5) If someone new in this forum is making basic questions concerning how to achieve some kind of sounds, let him have the information. Even if he copy someone’s bass line, when he tries to send material to a record label he’ll have some negative feedback regarding his music. The truth always will come through an original work. Who knows this guy who s asking and trying to learn some other guys skills will use it to develop his own in a very original way? Who knows if this guy one day will produce a great album???

6) The funniest thing is that the most experienced and really good producers are always kind and support people promptly. Usually some guys, who have just learned the basics here, suddenly find their selves truth owners. And the ones who could be tired of answering questions are nice and friendly. I’ve seen people complaining about Mike A’s tutorial, which has helped a lot of people to learn some nice views even if they won t use it ever. This guy just wanted to talk to people and share his opinions (although he recognizes that it was just some general comments and it s not a producer s bible.

7) If we treat music like government treat people, we’ll have such bad results in life as most countries have regarding pointless violence (verbal in our case) and people misunderstands.
Pink Floyd use to say in their lyrics: “together we stand, divided we fall” . So. The point here is to share and make our genre stronger and not to cut other peoples wings. Let them fly to whatever direction they want, maybe when they get back, they will bring us news and so the music will develop itself into different paths.

8) We have in this topic a real nice tool to develop our techniques, make new friends worldwide, share information and show to the world that our genre is sensible and united. We should treat people nicely, receive new members nicely and be as friendly as possible. Let s act like music lovers, sensible artists that work to bring harmony to the world through music and human relationship. Let’s always monitor ourselves and avoid to become arrogant as politics and sick people.

9) I’ve made some new friends here and have them daily on my msn. I hope my message touches people’s heart and we always keep united into our common interests: making people and life happier by expressing ourselves through psychedelic music.

10) I d like to finish this text with this brilliant and sensitive phrase of a great man:

“ You only get old when you stop learning things, no matter if you re 85 or 15 years old” (Henry Ford)

All good points for the people answering questions. Here are a couple of essential points for the people asking the questions:

1) Always start by using the search function in the forum. The chances are big that your questions has been asked before and thus the answer has allready been given.

2) People should make a real effort to try and learn and experiment. Don't ask for exact presets or samples. Instead, post what you have achieved so far and ask for suggestions on how to improve it. Sometimes these can be general aspects and sometimes these can be specific aspects. Reguardless, start by doing your own homework.

Undertow,

1) you know I was going to write my intro advicing people about the search engine and I simply forgot. Thanks for the complement.

2) I don t know what "people should do" and its their individual right to do things like they want...The important thing here in this post is the good will and some respect with other people. No one is obligated to read other ones posts or to answer them. So, if someone posts something as you say in a lazy way, no one might be interested in aswering and that s it. But if someone decides to help the lazy, no one else should be worried about it. Life goes on.

I mean should in the sense that if you want to learn, achieve good results, create something original and maybe become a great psytrance artists at some point, you _should_ make the efforts I mention. If that isn't the intention then by all means, be lazy and ask for ready made presets.

Undertow,

if you read this post carefully you ll notice that this didn t heapened with me. You talk like it did...as I said, I had already studied computer music production.
I m just saying that some few people, usually beginers, are rude to other members (less experienced)that have no clue about production.
